Havent caught e4 as i usually watch HO on c4 and JP clips via dailmotion. James actually came into the McQueen house? Thought he'd just leave the money outside.

Jesus Christ Mac has lost it 😮. I can't help but think the writers changed direction with Mac half way through. Marnie suddenly giving James her blessing to be with JP just seemed a bit off and unbelievable.

I thought the episode was decent but it was half as gripping at the one we saw last
month with Marnie manipulating James.

Poor James though. 🙁

She said it in such an off hand way though, after she thought she'd be getting what she wanted. Sort of like "won't need him around as much so may as well throw him a bone."

There was a bit too much going on in the episode for it to be as gripping I think. The Donovan rubbish didn't need to be there imho.

Yeah he went in and spoke to Myra, who sent him packing after he left the money with her.

I think Monday's episode should be telling. There must be a reason why Mac hates James so much. When he saw him today, he saw red. It makes me think the problem is more deep rooted. I just hope it's not another case of it being a paternity issue. That would really suck.

Maybe James indirectly caused the death of a sibling...?

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I sort of have a knot in my stomach!! Poor James!! He needs someone to love him unconditionally. JP, you have ONE job!!

That's what I was thinking too. It would be tragic, and less predictable than the alternatives.

It was very storyline driven rather than organic characterisation for sure, but I enjoyed how obvious it was that James was thinking of John Paul when she was talking about being in love with Mac and their connection.

Marnie must be totally in the dark about the violence, she'd never let her favourite son go through that.

Apparently there's
Spoiler
another huge secret to come out during James' talk with John Paul on Monday. I'm praying to every deity in the heavens that it's not sexual abuse.

Heh, I loved Myra when she said James was like a fish swimming next to John Paul and feeding off his awesomeness

So, suddenly JP sees enough to wonder around town on his own??? That was quick...

I wouldn't mind this because at least the concept is original and has the potential to be quite good. I know they are two completely different shows but in my teens I used to watch a show called smallville and they played a story like this between the shows villian (lex) and his father. It was terrific.

I'm pleased there is a spoiler suggesting more revelations to come because for me there needs to be a cause and effect. I mean why James? Why not Alfie and Nathan? There has to be something.

Yeah I saw that too and it was a nice touch. I do think James is in love with JP but he just hasn't admitted that to himself yet.

I felt the same, that she would let James have a relationship if she got what she wanted,
Shes super creepy with him, half expected her to kiss him

Or mac did by beating them, or they took their life, theres 8- 10 years between James and Nathan so James could remember Nathan be too young

Maybe he protected his younger siblings by taking Macs agression

He did say to Nathan a while ago that they had very different recollections of their childhood so maybe he did bear the brunt of it, so much that the others never knew.

Or maybe there was another child who died and Mac blames James for it?

Yeah, i do find it interesting that there is a big age gap between James and Nathan and I do think the writers kept that gap delibretly to tell James backstory.

or when Morticia struggled with the kids and James had to help Mac was drinking (They had said about his violence when drunk) because of her depression and took it out on James, the punch to the stomach was telling

I originally thought it was cos of the Cindy story and they needed someone old enough to be a lawyer

I knew from the minute James stepped into the show that he was going to be a dark horse and that there was going to be plenty to learn about him. The big age gap was a deliberate casting decision and his unhealthy relationship with his mum was bound to reveal something. What that something is, im still unsure of. Monday should be telling.

That's fine by me as I like a slow burn but hopefully the writers can shed more light on James behaviour with whatever scenes he has with JP on Monday.

As a wee sidenote, I really love Alfie and Jade, they're super cute together.

I'm still thinking about James' face when Mac started laying into him. He was so unsurprised and trying to be strong; it must have happened loads in the past. I'm so glad John Paul is the one he's going to open up to about this.
