If they go down the road of James being violent to John Paul, it will instantly take away the focus from the child abuse story to domestic violence. Hopefully HO won't go there, especially since they are working closely with the nspcc with this storyline.

I know you don't want it to, but I think it is going to come down to paternity. Old Mac keeps repeating "Keep away from MY family".
Plus he said that he only regretted sleeping with Morticia when James was born, hes his father, he would have happily rubbed James being some one elses in his face every day if he wasnt |

HO rarely gives up the chance to go down the sensationalistic road... but let's hope for the better!! |

I'm sure Mac is James' father.
Given how much Mac hates James, and the fact that he doesn't want him around, there's no reason whatsover for continuing to pretend James is his son, if he isn't. At the very least, Mac believes James is his son. If he knew that James wasn't his, he wouldn't keep up the charade. Their family was split up many years ago, anyway. |

That's no guarantee. Even for JP's rape storylines they were working with rape-awareness charities, yet they managed to royally screw up that storyline is so many different ways.
HO rarely gives up the chance to go down the sensationalistic road... but let's hope for the better!! JP's rape was a big mess in the end. Dodger being Nicos father was ridiculous, turning Lindsey and Cameron into overnight psychos was sensationalist crap too. The thing with Kirkwood is that he can't help put his own ridiculous spin on things some times. Even though a child from a broken home becoming violent is not unrealistic, it would be too comparable to Stendan and it's simply not James. James is no thug. He's cold, cunning and manipulative - and we've learned this week why, but the show should keep to the origins of his character traits without turning him into something he's not. Maybe we're all just over thinking this. |

Very good point. I just don't understand how a parent can hate one of their children so much for no apparent reason.

Ugh...I should know better than to have faith in Kirkwood for so many reasons. Though I do think he got cleo's abuse story right.

I wasn't suggesting that they would turn him physically abusive. But I could imagine him being manipulative and controlling. Like Marnie.
I hope they don't though. But I hope not. This is an unrealistic soap 98% of the time, let's have it that JP's love is enough to save him!! Let's go cheesy, please!! LOL |

I see what you mean. James is manipulative anyway. That's who he is his but I can't see him being an extention of his mother. Most of all, I can't see him controlling John Paul. He does genuinely care for him. I think it's likely he will push him away though.
I think he will try mind games on JP, but JP worked him out a while ago, and will stand up to him |

I don't really know... but I guess not. If they have to piace that storyline on hold, yesterday's last scene seems like a good place to leave it.
Ste is back, though, in case anyone has missed him! |

Just seen that he is in tonight but very briefly and its with Joanne. There are lots of different stories running tonight so I think his screen time will be limited.

I think they gay mummy's boy is the answer. He also made the remark about being with Marnie while Mac played football with Nathan. James has been screwed up by both parents and the other siblings need to wake up. I have a feeling Nathan may have experienced something. If he didn't progress at a sport the way Mac wanted I can see him just thinking Mac was being supportive in wanting him to succeed. In the autumn trailer Nathan is there when James punches Mac. Maybe something will be revealed. The lawyer's script mentioned the siblings for a reason so I think it is important.
By the way in the autumn trailer they are both wearing the same clothes. They are in James's house and he looks like he hs given JP a book. I think that has to be in tonight's episode to finish this week off. It looks like James is uncomfortable but wants to thank JP for his support. JP looks really pleased with the gesture. |

Speaking of JP's shirt, I enjoyed the view of his nip nops we got through it yesterday in that last scene. John Paul is pleasantly beefcakey atm, I approve!

I don't know, JP's t-shirt in the trailer is different from the one he was wearing last night. I don't think the scenes in the trailer are from tonight's episode, but who knows, we will see!

It's odd because the last scene he was wearing a cream shirt but in the trailer he is wearing that 2 toned he has worn all week. HO is famous for continuity faults. James seems to go between a blue and red shirt. It does indicate a cut in the budget! Anyway I want to know what book that is.

I assume the shot from the trailer may have been cut, as they were both wearing those outfits in the morning

I was thinking that today and I'm pissed off about it. I hate when films or shows put scenes in trailers they don't use!

me too, it could be later on
Joanne is a horrid friend, shes take take take James clearly isn't comfortable talking with anyone but John Paul about his issues. And lets face it, that's only because he knows 100% JP cares (and he's got the warm and fuzzies for JP deep down). I doubt he's had that kind of assurance with anyone else in his life which is really ****ing sad. |

So, from the comments I have read I deduce that block storytelling is back full force!! James tonight was in the episode not as James, but as Joanne's sidekick, so his current situation doesn't count. I would have liked some continuity with the previous episodes, even just in passing...but HO is HO.

Is that why it is so quiet on here tonight?

Yeah bugger all happened.
I did however discover one of my favourite Todd/Billy bloggers is a Jarry shipper and just...ugh. That ship legit makes me queasy and not just because I love John Paul so much, but because it was nasty and sleazy and unpleasant and James is double Harry's age. I'm not one to ship shame, but Jarry is straight up wrong. I'm so glad they didn't kiss onscreen and I think that's because the show recognised it was a step too far, reined it the f&ck in asap and it will hopefully never be spoken of or remembered ever again! Ugh. Thankfully McNight seems to be much more popular with fans. |
