No way they are going there again. They tried every trick in the book with McHay and failed. Harry and James was just sleazy.
Just read another spoiler where Marnie tells James she took money from the dog to pay for the fake flat. From what I have read it is James that calls on Tabitha to visit. Not sure how much money was lost in this scam but it must be quite abit. Sally has lost too so this also joins JP and James together.

Harry and James was a sleazy 1 time thing. He's moved onto JP now. I think the writer are invested in McNight so Ste wouldn't get JP even if he wanted. If would be so good to break Starry up and have Ste try to reunite with JP but he said no he wants James. An ego dent for precious Ste is long overdue as he gets everything he wants. I'm even sure he'll win the custody battle as Ste can't lose. He never does. Starry is turning into.a toxic relationship with their lack of chemistry and the fact it appears he actors don't really like each other. Not to mention that Parry should have lost his job for his awful rape/DV mocking instead of a suspension. Plus ALL their stories are about Ste not Harry. This is turning into Ste's longest relationship too and that's wrong when Brendan was he true love and Stendan.was FAR more popular but tptb insist on flogging it. It's not believable anymore, if it ever was, as a relationship. No teenager with his whole life ahead of him and the world at his feet would give up his dream at a US football camp for a nasty, scummy, chavvy, messed up waste of space as Ste. I can't believe Parry got away with what he did. He said he is against Domestic violence which I think is true. Trouble is he thinks it is something to joke about which shows true immaturity.
Perhaps they will just quietly end his contract so as not to make a big fuss. It does seem like there isn't any chemistry. I really liked that picture of Greg and James. It makes such a difference if actors get along. It also means the producers are more likely to kerp them together.
I was thinking (always a dangerous thing...)... this storyline so far has had the tendency of being a little anticlimatic!
We didn't get to see James and JP's first kiss, the first on screen kiss between them was after they had already slept together (no big deal, though).
Then they are sort of together, but James' breaks JP's heart by dumping him when he's blind and telling him about the bet...big dramatic moment! Angst! Expectations!! However, everything then fell rather flat cos it was never brought up again, James was sort of forgiven because of his father beating him up, and they got back together off screen during a blackhole (again, no reunion kiss, no clearing the air about previous issues, etc) .
Then JP blabs to Nathan about Mac, and James gets angry and practically dumps JP again..Angst!! dramatic potential!! But then he gets completely over it the following episode, and grovels to JP to take him back (what JP did was wrong, and I wanted it to be made clear.... I didn't want James to brush it off).
I don't know, I feel like we are missing a lot of key moments, glossing over stuff that usually in a fictional narrative would be shown. They need to start showing us the moments where the relationship evolves, and they need to follow up on things, instead of skipping the consequences/effects.

thanks! James seems to be popping up all over the place in lots of different plots; Joanne and her revenge, Goldie's entrance (why he would be interested in her I don't know), Marnie and her money problems, getting Diego out of prison.... I can't keep up! shows he's a good character, he's versatile and doesn't get stuck in one endless loop.

I think that's exactly it. Very few characters are able to entertwine themselves in other people's story's without it becoming forced. James is one of those characters who can quite naturally gravitate towards a large number of characters and become embroiled in different stories because of the kind of character he is. It helps that's he's a lawyer of course (but then so is Joanne and Simone) but James like you said is very versatile and not dependent on his onscreen family to keep him relevant and interesting. It's very rare that soaps are able to get characters of this nature so if they have any sense, they'll hold onto him.

absolutely, characters like this happen because they're allowed to grow and change, Hollyoaks could have easily allowed James to just be an extension of the Nightingale family, a one dimensional villain- but he's become so much more. His personality allows him to be kind and helpful, villainous and underhanded, powerful, vulnerable... so he can be in many different plots with different characters; caring to Joanne, using his lawyer credentials for Diego, villainous when he wants to be...he's just so wonderful to watch! and yes, they need to hold onto him!! Hear Hear! Then of course there is all those years where James was away too. Who did he meet, who did he cross? , what did he get up to? Abuse story aside here, there is a whole decade the writers can play with as he was estranged from his family for a long time. We know very little about his time away. There are so many avenues that the writers can explore with James. His background, coupled with the kind of character he is, is a writers wet dream. 😂 There is soooo much potential here...

yea good point! The only thing we know about his past is his relationship with Carter and that Marnie sabotaged it...I wonder if that will come back to light anytime soon! probably not, but I hope they do look more into James's backstory. That's why I'm annoyed that the Lomax's are getting so much attention at Christmas, it should be on James! (haha, but then I'm biased)

I know what you mean about the lomaxes. It doesn't help that they're totally insipid now. 🙄. As annoying as thier dominance will be over the festive season, I do think it's purely to tie up the storyline. Once that's done, i do think they'll be rested. Though truth be told, I think they'll all be gone by next next year anyway. Maybe I'm being premature here but I genuinely get the impression that 2017 will be a big year for the nightingales and that James will have huge role to play.

Actually I think you're right there, this does sound like their last big storyline and possibly Cameron's exit, as you say, to tie up loose ends over Lockie. I also hope they are all gone by 2017 and that James will play a big role, fingers crossed!!

Yeah. James does have a very nurturing side. Even though James does have a very cut throat and ruthless side, he is quite affectionate to those he cares about.
