God knows. In BK's head he felt that this is a better story than James' abuse or his bonding with Matthew. It's ridiculous tbh. I don't want Scott anywhere near them even though I know he poses no threat to James in JP's heart. It's still stupid. We've had Joanne so why go from 1 bunny boiler to another?

Because Kirkwood sucks, and he kills everything that is good in the world. He introduced a good character with James, and pairing him with JP was promising... but he's squandering all the potential.

Happy New Year you lovely lot. 2016 has given us McNight albeit with a lot of potential ruined by stupid storylining and pointless blackholes but still McNight was born in 2016 and James has been the best newcomer to HO bar Sally in years and JP has a viable love interest again. Roll on a successful 2017 for JP/James and McNight and of course here's hoping its a good one for all fms on here.

That sounds promising. I hope they show at least something of their location scenes. Seeing as they hardly featured in the winter trailer, I hope we see at least something in this one.

No McNight at all in the new trailer but tons of ste. Looks like he's at the centre of another big storyline. 🙄

I think it's fair to say at this point that Kirkwood doesn't give a damn about McNight, JP, and James. All he cares about is his precious Ste and killing off a character every week for shock value (which doesn't work anymore). I hate him and I want him to go away.

ETA: he is killing off Amy (both Barnes sisters murdered.... only on HO) as a way to give Ste full responsibility of the kids. It's beyond disgusting. This show is disgusting.

It just seems that no matter which soap kirkwood is in, he only really cares about a select few and expect the audience to love what he loves. I know he couldn't stand he chryed fans because we were quite persistent and passionate about something he clearly couldn't give a two hoots about. Ste is having the goon (moon) brothers effect. He will shove them down our throats no matter what.

Honestly Mcnight bias aside, the new trailer looks awful. A bunch of deaths and affairs. Sensationalism at it's worse. Shame because 2016 wasn't a bad year. The Jade storyline proved that the show can be decent and taken seriously when it wants to.

I really hope we see a new producer take over. This has got to be his 5th year surely. He's outstayed his welcome.

there's nothing in the new trailer that really interests me, still more and more Lomax stuff, more Osbourne stuff, more Ste, it definitely just seems focused on a small selection of characters these days- its annoying 'cause every time I type in 'Hollyoaks James' into google, only News about Duncan James comes up!! lol.

Just read Amy dies. No surprise as DS said she was studying neuroscience. However, it means Ste will have the kids. Honestly what happened to his serious illness. I used to love the character but despise him now. I just hope he doesn't turn to JP. What was this spoiler about JP and Leah?

Disapppointed in the Amy spoiler. Not happy that BK's fave is obviously getting the kids and its been set up that way all along. Fed up to the back teeth of Ste, Ste, Ste. No James but JP discovering the affair is to help facilitate the Ste getting kids back story. It's a shame that there is no McNight but we know there is stuff to come at least.

Just read that JP finds the video.. I can actually see a McHay McNight triangle. From what I have read and seen there is not much chemistry in Starry. I think Kieron and James did get on. I wouldn't be surprised if he has asked for their stories to intertwine. Leah turns to JP so that is also a bond. DS said ex husband so I wonder if they did divorce offscreen. HO doesn't really care about facts like that. If Harry proposes they have to address it.

I'm not sure if there'll be a love triangle. Heck we may not even get interaction as a result of this tbh. Ste finds out but we don't know if JP tells. Plus Ste seems to have hit another downward spiral so it can't go well either way as if Ryan was chucked out he'd feel good and Leah/Lucas would have got what they wanted and Ste would be daddy again but from the trailer and spoilers he's not so I guess it backfires someway. Starry have no chemistry and it looks like Ste isn't IN love with him anymore. He seems to be settling imo and loves him but not INI love anymore. It appears to me that Kieron and Parry don't really get on away from the set either. I wouldn't know if James and/or Kieron have asked to work together but it would be nice for some interaction again. It's been.so limited since last Xmas and its unrealistic as JP said then that he'd married his best friend. You wouldn't know it with lack of interaction since. I can see Ste accused of killing Amy and JP believing his innocence causing problems with James but I feel McHay are done regardless of the future of Starry who tptb hopefully realise its time to.end. DS have been known.to get some details wrong before so I don't know if they're divorced as when Scott proposed JP said he was still married and that was last May or so. Ste went to rehab, JP went blind and then.the custody battle started for Ste so when.did they find the time. I assume they're still just estranged husband's.

I liked JP/Ste before they made it extra-toxic. I don't want them back together romantically, not in the slightest, but I would like to see a friendship relationship beween them... they haven't interacted once since they split (with a lot of missed opportunities, such as Ste disapproving of JP being with James), so much for being "best friends". Even if they didn't work out romantically, with their history they would make sense as friends...unfortunately, HO doesn't seem bothered to show any of it.

Also, it would annoy me to have JP/Ste interactions again now that Ste hits one of his periodical low points, and needs help. Where was he when JP was blinded (albeit for 2 seconds.... stupid show)?? Everything always has to be about Ste.

New vid posted by HO twitter account has goss from Ross Adams which he says Scott steals James's identity and that he gets a gold platinum card and buy extravagant things such as fancy dress for a mermaid party. We all guessed it and it stems from jealousy over JP chosing James at Xmas. How on earth can they keep this character around when he's now committing identity fraud? And Scott's stuck in McNights story for the foreseeable then ugghhhhh

Ugh. I hope James goes into shark lawyer mood and rips him a new one (not going to happen, but hey, let me dream).

Inevitably he'll let Scott off so that Ross/Scott can stay but what must that character do to FINALLY leave. He helped Tegan kidnap Rose, he's poisoned Diane, he branded JP a peado after only a kiss with Harry unaware of his age and he tried to help his skanky slaggy cousin Sinead get Ste despite the fact he's actually gay. He was all for it and tried to break McHay up to help her. Plus he constantly harassed JP, his other cousins rape victim, pinching his bum and flirting to wind him up. But despite all this he stays around. So somehow a spot if identity fraud won't get rid of him I bet. It's annoying how he'll interfere with McNight due purely to jealousy

Urgh really!!!! I can sort of tolerate him a little when he's with other people doesn't seem as annoying so why keep bringing him back!! As for Ste yay just what we need!!

The fact scenes have been filmed keeping me hopefull for more after lack of anything in the trailer

I have to admit I didn't watch when Ste and JP were together/married etc, all I know is Ste hated JP and even more so when he caught him in bed with Brendan. I really don't see them getting those two back together especially as I'm sure they must know McNight is popular (even though we haven't seen much of them lately!)
As for Ste and Harry I get the feeling they will keep pushing them now as they won best partnership on DS.
I do think Ste will be accused of killing Amy (of course they won't let him out of the limelight) and obviously then found not guilty and I'm guessing get custody of Leah and Lucas.
They might even go down the Bobby Beale line and have Leah kill her

From what I remember they had always disliked each other. It was ridiculous putting them together just so they could be the first soap to have a gay wedding instead of a civil partnership. If Ste gets many more wedding rings he can open his own jewellry shop

The depressing part is that none of this would actually surprise me.

I do think that Kirkwood has his favourites and expects the viewers to love what he loves. God forbid any male character being more popular than his precious ste. I get the impression that anything becomes popular which he doesn't have a large amount of interest in gets put to the sidelines. This was definitely the case in eastenders with chryed. They only went downhill after he took over. With James, he and JP showed a lot of potential when it first started but as soon as theybstarted to developed a bit of a following, the pace of their relationship changed, as did the direction of thier stories.

I don't think Kirkwood has any intention of rekindling ste and JP, though nothing would surprise me. Starrys recent partnership win will cememt that the viewers love them, in his mind. I hate the thought of ste dominating next year but my guess is this is exactly what's going to happen leading to the shows anniversary with some bobby style revealL eah will kill Amy but it will be a huge who done it, ste will go to prison and be falsely accused blah blah.

I also worry that Kirkwood won't revisit James abusive past and that even if he does, he won't give it the care and attention it deserves. It will be wrapped up in a quick scoop and McNight will move onto plot driven contrived nonsense.

James is filming with the twins who play Matthew today so that rules out that stupid rumour on social media about JP dying in this Wales car crash stunt that rumoured to be happening. 2 little cuties they are too.
