Downloaded it on PS4 earlier. Trying to play, but struggling to connect.
Was going to see if the Xbox One version was working any better, but can't even see it on the store. Edit - Ha ha, doesn't actually start until 5pm. That explains it. |

You can do the training section now. Nice, slick and smooth. Bodes well for the main game.

Couldn't see it on the XBOX but it is on the online store and it'll get pushed to your XBOX.

I liked the original Titanfall (Was playing it the other day to get ready for the TF2 beta) but for some reason so far i'm not really enjoying this one. From the beta to the full game I had fun in every match I played of the original, But so far on this beta i'm just not having anywhere near as much fun.

I think I know what the problem is & why i'm not enjoying this as much as the original. This one feels a lot more like COD, The map design of the maps available in the beta are a lot more like COD maps & as a result people are playing it more like COD.
In the original the games were a lot faster & more frantic because the way the game played, The map design & all that encouraged people to keep moving & to use the jet packs & wall running to keep moving. In this beta so far people are staying stationary a lot more, You have a lot more people using sniper rifle's & just sitting in windows picking people off which is something you didn't see all that much of in the original. Some of the weapons also feel a bit overpowered, I've been single hit killed loads of times by a couple different weapons. Also seems like health regenerates sooner & faster than in most other online shooters. I recall when I 1st played the original's beta & when I 1st brought the full game. I was constantly saving video clips & sending them to friends because I was having all these awesome moments & just loving every match in part because of those moments. So far this beta is lacking that for me, I'm not having any of those moments. I'm not saving any clips & i'm not going on about how fun or awesome it is to my friends. I'm going to keep playing this beta & next weekend's one to see if it finally clicks for me but so far not that impressed. |

Ive not played yet but seen my son playing it briefly. I didn't have the 1st as ps owner but from what I saw it did just look like cod. The mode he was on didn't have the big titans though.

Seems like I wasn't the only one disappointed with the changes Respawn have made & the way TF2 plays/feels in this Tech test. Majority of comments/threads echo a lot of my gripes with it & include a few more which i've since noticed myself with more playtime.

The first game was unfairly called "CoD with mechs" by some people, even though it wasn't.
This one, though... CoD with mechs ![]() The removal of the Titan timer, and the removal of all AI bots on every mode except for Bounty Hunt (which has replaced the best mode, Attrition) has effectively turned Titans into killstreak/scorestreak rewards. One of the things that made the original so good was that it was accessible to *everyone*, regardless of skill. Even casual, average, and "noob" players could contribute to their team by killing AI bots, and *everyone* was guaranteed to get a Titan. That's now gone, along with the pace and the great map design. |

I don't want to judge it too much as it's only a beta test, but first impressions it doesn't feel as fun as the first game.
Also I'm not too bothered about the single player, think I'm one of a few people who didn't mind it was multi-player only. |

Yeah, I didn't care that the original had no single player.
I've not seen people bitch about Overwatch being online MP only (or about it not having unlocks or customisation except for cosmetic stuff), so I don't get why Titanfall got all that flak for it after release. |

If a developer just wants to make a fully focused multi-player game as they intend to then I'm ok with that. |

Exactly.
I never understood all the "Where's the single player?!" stuff at the time, and I still don't get why they've caved and added one to the sequel. How many people buy the latest CoD for the campaign? Or - even more crazy, given that CoD does at least sometimes have a good campaign - how many people buy the latest Battlefield for the campaign? Why does Overwatch get a free pass for being purely multiplayer, and yet Titanfall got showered with criticism? |

I've played a couple of games of Attrition on the original Titanfall earlier this evening, for the first time in ages.
It was so much more fun than I've had with the Titanfall 2 pre-alpha tech test. Fast, fluid, and full of Titans. I had a Titan multiple times in both games, as did other players. I'm not a pro, but I'm not a noob, either - I came second in the table both times, with a positive K/D against Pilots & Titans. Yet in my time so far with the Titanfall 2 tech test, I've spent hardly any of it in a Titan, and not seen many other players with them either. Having the Grunts and Spectres makes a difference, too. Not just to give people something else to shoot in addition to human players, but they also make the map less empty and more alive compared to the Titanfall 2 tech test. I really hope that Respawn takes on board all the negative feedback it's been getting everywhere. Titanfall 2 was my most anticipated game still to come this year, but now I'm pondering cancelling my pre-order. At least EA Access means I can try the final thing before release. |

I didn't mind that the original Titanfall didn't have a campaign but I definitely think that it having a campaign would have added to the game for 2 reasons.
The obvious reason been it would have added a bit of extra 'value' to the game in many people's eye's & likely would have brought in a lot more players as a result as not everybody likes to play online all the time & there's a decent amount who don't like playing online at all. But secondly it would have added some depth to the game in that it could have explained a lot of the lore & explained why there was this war going on & why you had the 2 factions fighting & where the titans came from. Just regarding Overwatch, I think that gets a pass on having no Campaign because of the sort of game it is & the sort of audience it's been aimed at. Overwatch is all about team play & is aimed at those who are going to play as a team using headsets & all that. As such a majority of the audience overwatch is aimed at don't want or even expect any SP component. Additionally the way the game is setup in terms of its heroes means its not the sort of game that would work with any sort of SP campaign anyway. Titanfall is a more traditional shooter, Yes you can play with headsets & play as a team but most of those who play are likely not going to do that & it's pretty clear after the original that a significant portion of gamers in the bracket the game was been aimed at want/expect some sort of SP component (Star Wars Battlefront was criticized for the same thing & they have since added some more depth to offline play in response to that). Incidentally I watched a podcast 2-3 years back where the host was talking to somebody on that years COD dev team who said that internal stats show a lot more people play a significant portion of COD's SP content than many think & that there is a sizable portion of people that only ever play the SP content of the game which is why they have no plans to make an MP only COD title. |
