I don't think she knows.

It will be interesting to see how she reacts when she finds out. I'm not a fan of Marnie at all but I'd like to see her make Mac pay for what he has done to James.

Oh i think she knows or at least had an inkling but chose to take a blind eye. It would not shock me.

I think its worse, I think she uses Macs hate of James to keep James close, and Mac coming back to her. Plus Mac is cross with James he will ignore what shes doing

Her face when he was about to say was saying, dont say it
When Mac came round she never asked why James ruined the wedding either, which I thought was pretty odd

Last nights episode again gave the impression that Marnie knew. I think she knows what's happening here and will quite easily sacrifice her son, as she's done in the past, to keep Mac in her life.

Last nights episodes (both ch4 and E4) were sublime. I did not think following POV week would be any good but i was wrong. Focussing on the Nightingales is great, they are a great mix of characters some likeable some not, but overall an interesting bunch. Of course James is the best of the lot and Gregory just shone in these episodes.

Words cannot express how much I adore this man right now.

POV week was fantastic and some great performsnces there but the plot itself isn't that strong becusse of the sensationalism aspect. Where as James's story is one that evokes a lot of interest from the off. I have to say the writers are doing a excellent job in developing the story so far. Well written and well paced. The nightingales are a great addition. Good characters played by decent actors, bar Marnie, but it's James who stands out. Gregory is terrific.

I don't mind Marnie though i agree she is a bad actress.

Gregory is amazing.

Ditto to both things.

I personally thought last night's was Gregory's best performance to date. Gosh, so many emotions portrayed in a natural and believable way. One wouldn't think he is acting.

Unlike most of you, I am not a fan of James; in fact, I can't stand the Nightingales as a whole. Nathan is OK-ish - not too annoying, just a bit dull. For me, the one interesting thing in last night's episode was when James's lawyer friend asked J whether any of his siblings had been abused by their father, and when J said no, he said 'If you've kept it to yourself, how do you know they haven't been doing the same?' That wasn't just a throwaway line, was it? So who do we think has also been abused by Mac? None of the others show signs of it, as James does. The others all seem to adore him.

I agree. I think Lysette's hammy style of acting works for the character of Marnie.

Love James. Last night he was excellent.

I'm not sure that any of them have been - it was just suggesting the possibility as it would be a logical thing to ask.

It's interesting that James approached Alfie first - perhaps thinking that he is the most similar to him (clever, sensitive, not sporty, scared of heights, perhaps considered a bit geeky or odd) so the most likely to have 'disappointed' Mac.

It's awful, but sometimes a parent can/will be abusive to just one child whilst leaving the others alone and I think that will be the case here.

I'm not sure about Marnie knowing. I think she might deep down but has never been able to face it. So, subconsciously turning a blind eye.

James said that Mac was always careful to hit him where it wouldn't show and they covered off other children with him being signed off Games, but surely his Mother would see him without clothes on at bath time and similar until he was junior school age or so and I got the impression it started when he was younger than that. Also, a broken collar bone is hard to hide surely?

I guess they could get round it by saying that Mac took over his bath time, saying it would be good father/son bonding time or something.

I also think that Lysette's acting style is a deliberate choice for Marnie's character and works quite well.

Whlst she has never been Oscar worthy, I've seen her in a few roles going back to when I was a child and she was a teenager (Dombey and Son would be the first) and she's been okay and quite different.

This story is certainly intrigued and the acting is great so far.

It does show that Hollyoaks can deliver when they truly concentrate on the right characters/actors.
