What's the ratings like? I always got the impression it was a decent hit with the people who watch daytime tv a couple of years back.

It's still on its break so odd timed thread, but no doctors and emmerdale only two soaps I like these days.
What a silly thread why should it be axed? It's one of the best watched day time shows has some great characters and s/ls and Yes they do have a decent following Doctors may not be one of the 'big boys' but they can definitely hold their own 😝
What a silly thread! If you don't like it, don't watch. It rates very well and is one of the few shows on daytime TV that is not about cooking or antiques. It's also got some gritty storylines and some great actors.

There are plenty of shows I don't watch, like CS, but I don't care whether they're axed or not, because it doesn't affect me.

Doctors has its purpose IMO as a daytime medical drama series; I don't know why it's classed as a soap because its in no way comparable to shows like EE, CS, ED, Neighbours etc. It's more just like a medical drama like Holby City and for what it's worth it's not something I could watch consistently but when I have its been decent. The show gets decent ratings, will never be in the same bracket as the big ones but it's in no way comparable to them. It shouldn't be axed, there's no real competition for it in its slot it kind of does what it says on the tin.

At the moment nobody is watching it because it is on a three month break. It has a lot of loyal followers who never miss it when it is on.
I loathe Eastenders, but I would never be so presumptuous to suggest that it be scrapped just because I despise it.

Doctors regularly pulls 2 million viewers per episode, which is big numbers for the early afternoon slot.

30th August apparently-maybe the poster will read this and watch it for some quality drama!
It is very successful and have been running for 16 years so far. I drive past the surgery location many times as it is located just outside of Birmingham City Centre in Selly Oak/Bournville using buildings from the University campus.
I actually wish more of the soaps took season breaks like Doctors and Casualty as they have shown doing 48 weeks a year can work.

Doctors is a really good day-time soap and I cannot wait for it to return.
Of course I cannot watch it at present because it is on a 3 months break!
