XF hype machine is cranking up with stories like this, to make sure the few XF viewers left know it's back soon. Last year it started off with about 4.5 million viewers, however official lines was we were all out giving BBQs.

This year bar Nicole XF a show aimed at teenage youth, has a senior citizen judging panel, these bar Nicole all can't sing, and all now out of touch with the youth market.

After last year, all the judges bar Simon quit, and the presenters quit, so Simon had to panic bring back Dermit, who he sacked before for dad dancing, and bring back Louis who he had sacked the year before for supporting joke acts.

These comments by Louis are just, stupid, I'll judged, like his judging skills, and from a person who had been sacked the year before utter twaddle.

I can see XF getting even less viewers this year as it's become a scripted pantomime. Whoever Simon wants to win, will win he will change the rules to ensure that.

Not watched the X Factor for a few years and so it takes me a while to even know the winners as artists when they do win and even then the majority only have a couple of singles or so, the only artists that have do any good are Olly Murs, Little Mix, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis and One Direction and even then Zayn has gone on his own since.

Maybe in front of him they do! People he knows would be talking to him about it obviously, but for the population as a whole Strictly creates a lot more discussion, I think anyone not connected with X Factor would agree with that. Perhaps in the beginning of X Factor his statement might be true, but not now.

To me, bar Nicole, why have an Pensioners panel of judges, XF is aimed at " pop music" at least Rita and Nick were in touch with the yout market last year.

I think the X Factor has gone the same way that Civilian Big Brother has. In that its now seen as a big tragic and people are ashamed to admit they still watch it.

In fact I was shocked do to see that it's coming back next weekend. There's been very little hype for it this time around. I think ITV know it's dying on its arse and that's why they've bought the rights to The Voice UK.

Yes, I think maybe the first 6 years or so X Factor was a topic people discussed. The year Matt Cardle won (2010) I remember people at work talking about him, and then maybe a little bit with Little Mix, but not after that.

Yep. The show chased headlines in S6 and S7 after the whole Laura White parliment debate in S5.
S6 with John & Edward going through to the lives and being saved over Lucie, then the entire series of S7 which was a complete farce all the way through... Simon Cowell thought he was clever, best ratings, on the front cover of every paper, everyone talking about it.

It doesn't last - people start to see through the manipulation. It's been in decline since S8 and hasn't stopped tumbling.

Bringing back the likes of Sharon and Louis isn't going to revive the show. It's dead now, don't think there's any coming back for it because Simon Cowell is too stubborn to correct his mistakes.

I recall it was " work office" discussion up to 2010, but XF has been past its " use by" date since then, no in talks about it anymore, it's ratings were as low as 4.5 million, and it had to get OneD In to prop up its embrassing final.

Manipulation is the word, the winners pre decided, and having " old" judges back, makes it a pensioners panel, ( bar Nicole), who have never sung, and are out of touch with the youth market who like pop music.

its an utterly pointless activity. The public vote for the same boy band types most years- regardless of who has any potential to sell. And everyone any good at all ends up in Musical Theatre anyway.

Agree, I feel sorry for the contestants on XF they are exploited, used as fodder for judges one line put downs, and they haven't a chance of winning unless Simon likes them.

XF deliberately leave in joke acts, so the judges can have material to be rude, these contestants really think they have a chance of fame, but actually just kept in to make Mr Nasty a few lines.

Louis wanted to be in SCD last year when he was sacked by Simon, but SCD didn't want him, articles here cover that. So he changed his tune now he is back on the payroll. That shows his lack of any integrity.

The public may still find the process watchable to a degree but has long since lost interest in who is churned out at the end of these talent shows. Even BGT suffered at its live stage this time and X Factor has been a long slide since is its peak in 2010. It faces a very tough Bank Holiday start -especially if the weather is good. Changes to format and coaches/presenters have looked increasingly desperate.

SCD doesn't have that problem because its not making stars, though there is always an issue with the pulling power of the contestants. At its best Strictly has a friendly warmth about it that X Factor has never even approached.

Walsh's statement is just playground banter, it wont make any difference at all-apart making his image even worse in the eyes of some.

He's right! In all honesty, X Factor was proven to be one of the most talked about shows in the UK on social media. They're stories written about the show almost every day and the whole concept makes it more talked about.

That isn't a bad thing, however, we all know Strictly gets more viewers! Its target audience is mostly the older audience and the show is much more light-hearted and lacks the drama The X Factor has.

Come on, XF launched with an impressive 8 million viewers (exc catchup), higher than all the soaps. Yes, of course this is for publicity but it's more fun than an actual war between the two shows. Last year, one of the strictly judges made a similar comment, it happens all the time!

The show isn't aimed at teenagers, it tried to appeal to them last year but they've gone 'back to basics' like in 2013. Age doesn't mean nothing and it's stupid to think like that. You'd be surprised at how much teenagers like Louis and Sharon, their chemistry sparks a lot of interest on social media, Youtube etc.

This is just a really false, petty and pathetic thread. I watch both shows, why is it Strictly obsessers have to get so serious? Simon will choose who he wants to win? They've been winners he's disliked, like Sam Bailey, and if you're referring to last years series it was so obvious Louisa would beat RnB, she was the favourite from her first audition! For an entertainment show, 'joke acts' have become the norm on X Factor. But they were abandoned in 2013 and the public complained. Strictly has joke acts! For example, Jude Murray! Very recently judges like joke acts, for example Stevi Ritchie. Louis would never do Strictly, because of his friendship with Simon, the exact reason why he didn't do I'm a celeb.

Where the hell do you get this false information from? The show got 7.6 million viewers for it's opening episode (exc catchup) and the final got 8.4m with over 1m on catchup.
