Now he has mentioned what he went through with hindsight it should have been obvious. I am so glad that he has decided to remain true to himself and possibly not win rather than show off or act up. I would still have rather seen a CBB where we saw more conversation between the so called quieter hms than a Towgeord sex on the beach version. I actually think as most people have now see through all the BS he could win.

Totally agree with you. I like Ricky and would have loved to find out more about him, but instead we've had to endure a turd in a mask for 99% of the show.

I didn't understand it , he talks in such vague terms , what was he on about ?

after 3 weeks I've no idea who he is .

Of course it would be nice to find out about Ricky and his depression and his guru etc etc but that dosnt mean its not also nice to have a lighter more entertaining side to the house that Bear brings.
Im sure if Ricky had the capacity to connect with people to the degree necessary for him to divulge personal information he could have done so with or without Bear , Heavy etc in the house.
He largely hasnt made these personal connections , he has remained kinda introverted and has not opened up in any forthcoming way.
I think that the idea that Ricky would have blossomed without Bear is misguided , i think it would take a special set of circumstances for Ricky to open up and those circumstances are certainly not met simply by removing Bear.
There are quite a lot of tight lipped people in the house - i mean Aubrey dosnt strike me as the kind of person who is gonna give personal revelations about herself or solicit such revelations from others. Sam also.
I just dont think they would all be necessarily blubbering like they in a therapy session just by removing Bear.
There ive said it

I think Ricky copes with his depression by keeping active...not so easy to do in the house. He always seems better when he's doing something. Nevertheless it was a brave move to go into the house.

I don't think you can blame Bear for it being difficult for him in there, it was always going to be hard for him. I imaging it's been harder for him to have his 'friends' turn on him than any of the other antics going on.

This is the problem with BB these days we never really get to know anybody in the house, the bigger louder voices are always heard but don't really say anything.

I really couldn't stand Ricky from what I saw of him on BBots but when he mentioned about his depression, I saw more depth to him and thought there's more to him than we are being shown. What annoys me is how false Renee is towards him. She clearly doesn't like him or respect him as a man but it takes a lot of courage to admit you have depression especially if you're in the public eye.

Absolutely! I bet we've missed loads of fascinating stuff this time with all the focus on the chavs (for want of any better expression).

It's not just a problem 'these days' It's always been a problem because BB edit it to the limit and show what they want to show, it's a soap, pure and simple. It is not a reality show. And it never has been.

There's been a couple of conversations between Ricky and James on live feed about animal cruelty and where both of them were philosophising about life, very interesting. We saw none of it on the shows.

Bear most certainly has not brought a lighter entertaining side to the house.

In fact he has done the complete opposite.

He has single handedly oppressed the hm's and brought an horrendous negative atmosphere into the house.

The guy has destroyed this years BB. Worst contestant by far of any BB/CBB.

A true horror.

I feel very sorry for Ricky having to co exist in such a close proximity to such a tormenting, goading muppet.

I respect him so much more now, knowing how much he has gone through.

I think it's a shame that BB/CBB has become focussed on showmances, sex and bad behaviour. If I wanted to see that sort of stuff I'd watch TOWIE, GS etc. Unfortunately now the target audience seems to be viewers who like all the fake stuff and call quieter hms boring. I prefer conversation to grunts, simulated sex noises and hms exposing their breasts and penises to get air time. Unfortunately the hms who actually have conversations including Ricky get little airtime. It's very hard for people suffering from depression to open up. I don't know much about Ricky's history so can only assume that his depression started when he lost his job on EE.

Well happy to reiterate Virgil...I absolutely loathe him with a passion. I find him utterly repugnant and repulsive in every way.

Thanks a mill for giving me the opportunity to express myself again..phew...feels goooood

Ricky is negative and miserable for the most part. Maybe he is still depressed?

Yes. What a terribly, worrying and disturbing future we have if this is all our younger generation find interesting. How thoroughly depressing. If Ricky wasn't depressed entering the house, he surely will be when he leaves.

Couldn't agree more.

BB and CBB are not for me anymore. As Magnus Magnuson said, I've started so I'll finish, so I'll see this risable one out to its conclusion.

After what feels like a lifetime of watching BB and loving it.. the show's not for me anymore. This year has been appalling.

BB jumped the shark years ago, no doubt about that. However, this year has stooped to another level, an all time low. Shocking and not for me.

Saira Khan was a guest panellist on The Wright Stuff this morning. I learned a lot in a short time about her family/cultural background, about her experiences of racism, and about her children, both biological and adopted. This is the kind of thing I should have learned from her appearance on CBB.

I want to know about Ricky's depression as a result of the whole scandal/suspension from EE, about James Whale's experience of cancer, and so on.

CBB used to be about getting to know more about celebrities you thought you knew, and sometimes being surprised. Now it's completely dominated by an empty-headed spoilt brat of a manchild, and the only chance you have of getting to know the other HMs better is by watching the live feed, such as it is.

I agree 100% with all of the above.

In 'days of old', CBB was an insight in to the celebs lives and a glimpse of what they were like when not doing their celeb job. It's so far removed from that now, it's ridiculous. They have an absolute cheek to continue to call it Big Brother.

It should either be renamed or scrapped. My opinion anyway.

Apparently his contract was only for 3 months then it got extended for 6 years and he was over the moon about it. Something happened with a woman (in his private life) and the show cut him out. It was a massive blow. I don't know what the whole thing was about with the woman, but it made the press and ruined him. I'll have to look it up.

Having watched from day one I can't agree, we used to see some great conversations, some boring ones and some funny ones, now we only seem to see people slurping the face off each other or yelling. The conversations just don't get shown.

Yeah, I agree actually. I think I'd forgotten how good it used to be. The last few years have completely ruined it for me. (I need to go back in time and try to remember!!). But I still belive bb have designed this from day zero, to get full control eventually and steer the public (in this case now, the younger public, to a place where it's completely pointless).
