Whilst new Eastenders producer Sean O'Connor has already announced 5 exits and he's barely been there a minute - what about Coronation Street? And I'm pretty sure Kate Oates has been there longer. Surely shell make some axings - there should be loads, but she said she won't have a cast cull. But surely 2 or 3 will be getting rid of? Or will this happen during her stunt week in October perhaps
Here's who I'd have leave:

- Izzy: boring and I don't like her as a character. She has run her day and just drags Gary down.
- Anna: I feel like it's time to call it a day for Anna. She's not very likeable as she used to be and is becoming a bit of a spare part. Have Faye stay and live with Tim and Sally - I think she could be a good character for the future.
- Freddie: although he's a bit of fun, I can't see a long term future for him on the show.
- Fiz: not a fan of her character and she drags Tyrone down who has more potential. I'd kill her off in this stunt
- Sinead: also boring and can't see what else they can do with her.
- Chesney: another character who has run his day. Give him and Sinead a happy ever after into the sunset.
- Caz: vile character.
- Billy: I don't like him and Todd together they just don't work and Billy is boring.
- Kirk: Kate Oates should be ruthless by axing Kirk. Whilst he's been there a while, he's just repetitive now and his stupidity is just at the point where we know what to expect.

There's so many more characters I could add but I won't. Unfortunately it seems like the characters these days aren't developed at all and can go for weeks, sometimes months, off screen. It's a shame, really. The only two families I would keep the same are the Platts and the Barlows. And the McDonald's, more or less.

Izzy Anna and Gary for a start. Sean Tully bit won't happen. Tyrone, Kirk and Beth. Freddie.

I think Kate Oates is doing the right thing by not axing a bunch of people first. Its been talked about a bit on here before but Douglass Marland who was the head writer for As The World Turns in the 80's had a list of rules of how not to wreck a soap and one of them was don't come in get rid of a bunch of characters. Plus Corrie has had a lot of turn over lately just from actors wanting to leave so getting rid of several established cast members would be mistake.

I don't think Kate will be making rash decisions for a number of reasons. I think the Corrie cast are more like a big family and it wouldn't do her any favours by axing people straight away, the cast may not support her work and could damage morale.

Secondly I think its fair to say that the reason SOC is axing people is because the EE cast is rather large and they are probably mindful of budget cuts which is why we've seen some big name departures in the last 12 months, he's probably being forced to axe characters whereas KO is doing it based on what characters she wants to work with.

Anna, Gary, and Faye Windass should go, together with Izzy Armstrong.. Gemma is an embarrassment to watch and should never have been brought back. Maria must have run out of men to have sex with, so she needs to go. We need an interesting family in the Rovers; Liz and Michelle should go, Steve should stay in the taxi ofice and a new family brought in to run the pub.

I don't dislike Izzy, but I never liked Gary.
Anna is OK. Faye and Sally can go.
I like Fiz. She was great with Roy and Hayley and she was funny in her naked protest on the roof
Billy can stay, but please get rid of the ever vile and tedious Todd. Why on earth bring him back?
I love Kirk.
I'd keep Gail and Audrey and Ken. That's enough Platts (Tilsleys) and Barlows.

Opinions differ both here and 'out there'.

I wish you had added the many more characters, it would give us a break to just look at a blank screen for a while. We're becoming numb with the nonsense.

Luke is definitely going. The producer already got him away from Maria.

I agree she needs to get rid of some, I think the Corrie cast is too big.

I like the idea of Chesney and Sinead going off together, that would be nice and they both need to go.

I'd also get rid of:

Robert
Anna
Luke
Alya - she could get a job in another place

And introduce a new family to run the pub, as someone else said.

I will be gutted if steve or Gemma leave or get axed I think there amazing

I think corrie have pdf contracts that can't be altered where it stipulates that if a character has been there over 2 years they can stay for life should they wish

And Gary, well i can't stand the acting. He is like a male Sam Womack. Been phoning his performances in for years.

In my opinion Corrie has a good cast, I wouldn't axe anyone at this point. Plus they need a bigger cast not a smaller one

They most certainly do not need a bigger cast when they already struggle to think of decent storylines for the cast they have.

Also you have got the executive producer Kieran Roberts - who is sitting it out until retirement. Kate Oates has to get past him to get rid of anybody

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; the only people Corrie need to axe/fire/replace are the writers.

There are characters I don't like and characters that seem to go nowhere or serve no purpose (the so called Deadwood) but in my opinion Corrie doesn't have any characters who couldn't be re-vitalized with a good writer.

sally,gail,audrey fiz tyrone, kirk. think gail should go as she has had the minority of big storylines, anymore & it`ll be laughable, oh & get rid of the websters

Maybe they're planning to get rid of Maria instead. She's bloody awful.

I always give writers the benefit of the doubt as they only go on what they are given. However, a writer's responsibility and their own creations in a script is largely in the dialogue. And a lot of corrie's dialogue has been absolutely shockingly awful. Jonathan Harvey is the show's worse offender.
