I heard that she had a new song out this month and when the presenter declared she had a 'new look and a new sound' i had to cringe as i couldnt see what she'd actually changed......

Its either sunk without trace or it hasnt been released yet but i havent seen much talk about it and i thought there would have been....at least a bit considering she was a x factor winner and the show is on again in a couple of weeks.....

This is the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf0Tr9FV20A . Wouldn't be my personal choice of music at all.

She's gotten way too big for her boots in the years following the show, criticising other judges etc.

Obviously I wish her and her family all the best though.

It was released on 8th August but I can't find a chart position or sales figure.

Looking at her twitter, she was on Lorraine, did some magazine interviews & had a launch night.

The problem will be that, as a now independent artist, she won't have much free tv promotion or radio play, meaning the majority of the public won't even know she has a new single out.
Worse still, the majority of people who would buy her music are generally the type who need to be spoon fed the information through a program like TXF.

I was really surprised that the single has only had 18k views on Youtube in 2 weeks.

She needs to focus on pulling fans back into her music through social media.

1. Have greater interaction with the fans on social media sites. Make it as easy as possible. ( I tried to click on a link to read an article but had to sign up to gain access, so didn't bother).

2. Do regular covers and make them available across her social platforms. People tend to search for what they know.
Grace Davies (an indie artist) did a cover of Adele's Hello & has 41m plays to date. It's also gained her a lot of interest from within the industry.

3. Work to build a network within the industry. As a "famous" name they will be a lot of people willing to work with her, either to write or to collaborate. In return she'll receive cross promotion with other artists and their fans.

But won't the label she's signed to right now try to push her on to the radio stations?....

I saw her on Lorraine and didn't see any new look she'd had done to herself, and the song was inevitably the same old belting big chorus stuff that she's done since leaving the XF....

I feel sorry for her in a way, because even though she's only 39......( still clutching on to the faint lines of youth....I have to say that, as i'm the same age....) she comes across as much older, and who in their right mind is going to admit to being a fan of hers....

I googled the top 40 yesterday and not one mention......and obviously she won't be invited back on to the XF this year, but still at least she's having a go which is more than can be said for the winner of two years ago ( forget his name) and Louisa seems to have sunk without trace as well!

I thought I'd best click on to the link seeing as you went to the trouble of posting it......and oh my god.....not just the song, but the video!

Why did it start with her applying her lipstick...

Why is she still making videos and singing songs all about her journey ( well that was what it seemed like to me..)

If she's been getting too big for her boots ( james Arthur style) and criticizing the judges, then I think someone should have a word with her quite soon....!

Louisa has hardly sunk without trace. She's featured on the Clean Bandit single Tears - which made number 5, and has stuck around the charts. She's lucky - most winners get hidden away until October, whilst the runners up get to release months earlier.

I actually like it. I'm by no means a fan and the song certainly isn't innovative in sound, but the melody is nice and the lyrics sound honest and appropriate for her age and, why not, her journey. I certainly don't see how this is an "awful" song - if this is awful, then how do we label what's in the charts nowadays?!

I had a look at the top 40 yesterday, and other than the fact that I had never heard of many of the artists in there most of the music was pants in my view.

fair point.....

I'd like though to see her do a solo single. But if she's still signed to SC label, then the sound and the song is going to be boringly obvious....

I hate not to recognize anyone in the charts, though I can't stand this affliction people have nowadays with putting " (featuring....)" in all the titles.....

The line "As if there's no one out there listening" made me laugh, as I was looking at the number of views as I heard it.

Well yeah, not exactly 20 anymore, is she?
By the way, that's a good thing for me, cause I can't listen anymore to "you're the boss at home" type of lyrics

Sam does have a great voice, but a dated image.

She needs a make over. A different, maybe shorter hairstyle would take years off her.

As for the 'new look'. maybe it refers to her having teeth treatment - the gap is no longer there

Considering most Clean Bandit songs break the top 3 I don't think that Louisa was very successful in comparison.

To be honest that is the worst Clean Bandit song that I've heard off them as it's generic in a non-guilty pleasure way, and I really despise Louisa's vocal lol.

The thing that hurts Sam Bailey is a lack of control in her vocal, improve the lower range dramatically so it has more effect when she goes loud.

And her style of Pop is dull and dated, if she's gonna do a retro sound do Synthpop as that might make her more interesting to the Music buyers.

Is she signed to a label? I'm not sure she is after leaving Syco as she funded her own album.

Even if she is on a small label she'll struggle to make any inroads into getting airplay unless she's supported by radio producers & presenters.

I know artists who have sent out their radio edit versions to radio stations, which don't get played but end up for sale on e-bay.

What are you talking about, 'most Clean Bandit tracks break the top 3'? They have released 9 singles and only two have went Top 3, Louisa's single is their 4th highest charting but actually their 3rd best selling.

Anyway you can't compare chart positions to older tracks, Tears was their first On Air/On Sale release which has completely flipped how songs do on the charts, so although it has only reached number 5 it has shown incredible staying power and is still number 15 after 3 months, it has been a really big hit.

In fact it has been certified Gold, which means its sold over 400,000 copies, closing in on 500,000 and will probably go platinum later this year.

This week it is the number 3 most played song on radio, and as I already said its been out 3 months already, that just shows you how big this song has been.

Tears has been a big hit - chart position isn't so much an issue anymore it's about staying power and a couple of XF graduates have had really good staying power - reggae and bollie flopped though.

Tears will go platinum in a couple of months I think!

I am not a fan of this kind of song, and agree that the video is , but credit to her for looking and sounding great.
