Well there is something in that. In the age of plastic surgery as a standard don't you find that the 'beauties' are becoming standardised. What was the expression; beauty is the 5% of difference. In the past it was the serendipitous imperfection that made the face. Think of beauties like Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, all of whom would have had their features perfected if they had been young aspirees nowadays.

I hadn't heard that phrase before but it's so true isn't it, the wannabes these days might as well have MATTEL stamped on their bums. The ideal now seems to be a homogenised, hyper sexualised, almost ethnically ambiguous look, devoid of any character or charm. They sacrifice looking human to look perfect for their Instagram selfies...I would hate to be young these days!
Obviously not ALL people are like this - there are many average, ordinary people, male and female, who go out with, fall in love with, have wonderful lives with average ordinary other people. We do seem to live in an overly criticial time though - we have a weekly thread pulling Emma to pieces for example. People go on about her thick legs, her hair not being great, her clothes aren't perfect, etc.etc. when she's obviously a lovely, healthy, happy, confident, successful woman. We never see a thread going on about Rylan's looks, clothes, make-up each week. |

Yes, it's sad. Young men seem to want a standard Barbie doll, cookie cut out female these days too, imperfection is not an option. It's one of the reasons, I believe, that we end up with all this slut-shaming, "nice guy" MRA scenario, which is a nasty side of modern life.

Marnie is a very pretty girl.
Nothing THAT special though, but perhaps that's because she comes across as sort of fakey and boring to me. Her expressions are very limited, and she has no archness or wit and it shows in her face. She's far too young to have had work surely? I probably should have read the thread. |

Is her face natural?
Looks like she's had few procedures. Lips and Co. ![]() Quote:
Nope she's had nothing done .

She has. Nose, lips and boobs.

In this case I do think they're mostly right, because really even their list is pretty short for her. The nose thing is a non-issue it is so common. And the boobs apparently were just a lift, and allegedly just because they didn't... hang equally. She didn't get implants, and really that was quite wise of her. The lips were the mistake. Very few people need lip injections, in my opinion, and she really wasn't one of those few who did. That said, if she stops with the surgery now and stays away for a decade or so, and takes care of herself, she should be alright. |

She's definitely had a FEW things done for sure, but note that those sites that specialise in "plastic surgery exposes" often exaggerate a lot. Don't always inherently trust those sites, I am just saying.

But she was probably pursuing a slightly DIFFERENT sort of fake, than the Chloe sort. As if that makes it any less pathetic and sad. |

The reality being that it's generally the steroid bodied, pretty boys who get those girls, leaving the ordinary boys to feel resentful and bitter towards, well, everyone. It's a grimly fascinating phenomenon isn't it, dating and mating seemed infinitely easier 20 years ago

I'm only vaguely aware of that world from the odd (extremely!) thread in GD and suchlike, people I know in real life don't use those terms - not in front of me anyway

I'm staggered by it all. And feel so sad that all the feminism of my youth seems to have resulted in young girls trying to be sexually available Barbies and people defending it as 'their self expression', and their desperate desire to be sexually wanted being unable to be critiqued at any level as 'politically incorrectly not accepting their needs' or something.
I'm so sad about it, really horribly sad. Nobody is allowed to raise so much as an eyebrow about it without being labelled a misogynist or a slut shamer, or what ever crap phrase twitter has churned out that week. |

Feminism got hijacked at some point and now seems to benefit men more than anyone, ironically - sex on tap with apparently gagging for it 24/7 porn bimbettes. The young women have been brain washed to think that it's 'empowering' or some shite. It makes me sad and mad.
Nobody is allowed to raise so much as an eyebrow about it without being labelled a misogynist or a slut shamer, or what ever crap phrase twitter has churned out that week. They were MORE protected years ago. Now everyone PRETENDS it's some equal playing field and it's a bloody DISASTER. I am GUTTED about it all. ![]() ![]() ![]() And it's the weakest and most vulnerable that are affected the most. As usual. |

Hopefully it's just a case of the pendulum having swung a bit too far, with a bit of luck the situation will balance itself out to something a little more civillised in time. *Clutches at straws and pearls* |

http://images-cdn.moviepilot.com/ima...-pr-383563.jpg I don't agree about Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, and Audrey Hepburn either. Why would they be any more likely to have their features "perfected" than, say, Kate Blanchette, Uma Thurman, or Saoirse Ronan (who, so far as I know, haven't had any work done). |
