BT Freestyle 750 - help please
I have a BT Freestyle 750 answering machine. The base unit seems to have died. The power light is on but the answering machine isn't working and the handset isn't charging, even though that light is on. Where the number of messages are shown, usually set at 0, there are now two bars. The answer on/off button isn't doing anything and when I press answering machine on the handset, it says 'Not Possible'. I've tried switching it on and off from the wall socket, pressing the find button as has been suggested, all to no avail.
I've also tried ringing the BT helpline but after holding for an hour, it seems that is also not possible. Can any help or advise how to fix this please? |

You could try unplugging it from both mains and phone line. Remove any batteries it has to back-up it's memory. Leave it for a few minutes then plug it back in and replace the batteries with new ones.
If that clears the fault then keep an eye on it for a few days to see if it stays working. This procedure will likely erase any settings and phone number memories it has so only do it if you can restore all of those. If it has no effect then it's time to take it down the council tip, throw it in the recycle bin and get a new one. Chances are it would cost more to fix than it's worth, such is the way of things these days. Even if you could find someone willing and able to have a go at fixing it. |
