I'm North East so would say it more like "is" but sadly have been away to long and have lost much of my accent

They used to say that a lot on Brookside, didn't they? I quite like it. It's nice to get a variety of English accents and idioms in.

You say that but the other characters in Hollyoaks seem to find it just as weird/annoying.
Scott is a Gerodie so North East rather than North West where Hollyoaks is set. In fact, most characters on HO come from somewhere other than Cheshire - the Roscoes , Blacks and Nightingale are London or close by (Brighton), Cameron and Jack are Scottish, Diane is Liverpool etc.
My family are from the North East and a lot of people do say 'us' instead of 'I' or 'me'. It's hust an idiom like referring to a member of the family as "Our Liam" as you get a lot in Corrie.
