All rap is pointless.
It isn't.
There are some songs where a rap enchances a song like Left-Eye's rap in Melanie C's "Never Be The Same Again" and again her rap in "Waterfalls" is legendary.

And John Barnes rap in World in Motion is cllassss
You've got to hold and give
But do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast
But you must get to the line
They'll always hit you and hurt you
De-fend and at-tack
There's only one way to beat them
Get round the back
Catch me if you can
Cos' I'm the En-gland man
And what you're loo-king at
Is the ma-ster plan
We ain't no hoo-li-gans
This ain't a football song
Three li-ons on my chest
I know we can't go wrong

Well Kanye West is pointless full stop.

Getting back to topic I think in the 90's Mel B done a pointless rap in one of the songs from the entire pointless catalogue of the Spice Girls.

REM - The Outsiders. Some rapper called Q-Tip turns up near the end and does his stuff, I hit the skip track button.
Yeah, I remember that. God, that were a bad period for REM. Around The Sun, wasn't it? Maybe their only weak album.

R Kelly walking into Do What U Want, taking a verbal dump and then walking back out again. Why Lady GaGa will NEVER be taken seriously.

I'm a Madonna fan but that rapping was pitiful. Embarrassingly bad.

Shame as the actual album is very good and deserved far better reviews, overall.

I internally sing that when picking up my carton of Alpro.

It gives me profound inner peace.

Chuck D bowed down in admiration at Madge's flow.

All of them, they just ruin the flow of the song, for what? A few extra £££ the greedy musicians.

I've never heard her rap. Should I avoid?

^ Yes, you should.

(Here's the lyrics - it starts at the bit where she refers to drinking soy lattes. )

Here's a crap one most people will have forgotten: Mickey Rourke's rap on David Bowie's song Shining Star, from his critically panned 1987 album Never Let Me Down, which was generally acknowledged, including by Bowie himself in later years, as his career nadir.

No one mentioned the rap bit in Just Say No by The Kids From Grange Hill yet?
