I watched this over the weekend and though I agree the animation isn't quite as good as previous releases, it wasn't so bad to make it unwatchable.

There's always been a few bits here and there that haven't been covered well either by telesnaps or the audio so it was nice in certain scenes to know exactly what was going on!

My favorite part was the conveyor belt sequence which was truly awesome!

The daleks were animated quite well. Troughton less so.

I watched it last night and thought there's only a few moments where the animation was a bit weak. There are a few moments when I thought "I bet it didn't look like this on telly!".

Two things struck me:

1. The Dalek spaceship must be HUGE, so how did they get it from the mercury swamp into Lesterson's lab?

2. The ending is very hurried. The Doctor manages to avoid being sot at point-blank range by a Dalek, so the Dalek accidentally exterminates the power supply to the whole station, and all the Daleks blow up.

I liked the build-up of tension, and thought the Daleks more sinister than usual. I've long enjoyed the story on CD Soundtrack format, and it's great to see it.

Sounds fantastic. I've decided to wait till February to get the bluray release where you have the option to see it in black and white and colour.

I remember watching the original transmission of episode 1. It was bonfire night, and fireworks constantly going ''bang'' outside added to the general scariness ...... I remember seeing a claw withdrawing into one of the daleks inside the spaceship, but not the dalek ''scuttling across the floor'', as claimed by wikipedia, whatever the script might say. It was very impressive, the sets with a dalek ''production line''were brilliant, as surviving clips show. I clearly remember end of last episode, with the ''emperor dalek'' slowly failing, and Pat Troughton saying ''at last, the end, the final end'' .......

I also remember looking in radio times, and dr who was a different actor. I said, ''dad, why is that?'' and he said ''you'll just have to watch it to find out''.

I remember the transformation scene, then pat troughton constantly fiddling about with his recorder. And reading from his ''500 year diary'', which he seemed to carry around for the next few episodes .......

Wot i remember was mainly the ''dalek crowd scenes'', because they were extremely well done. And some of it survived, for exactly that reason (via clips from other shows) .......

Having watched the original transmission, i was keen to view this again, got the DVD for Christmas and watched it last night. It's certainly a powerful story and a great introduction for the second Doctor. It's also very violent especially the last episode. One thing I remembered clearly was the last scene as the Tardis departed, very spooky. I hope we will see some more lost stories animated in this fashion.

Now they have corrected the costume error in episode one I believe the bbc should offer a disc replacement for people not happy the same as they did with the daemons, the invisible enemy and the day of the doctor.

A colour version of The Power of the Daleks will be available to buy on 31st December 2016. If you purchase The Power of the Daleks in black and white, you will receive an offer code by email allowing you to purchase the colour version for just £5 SD/£4 HD when it becomes available. We will use the email address associated with your BBC Store account to send you a one-off email with your code."

Still no sign of it.

There is also a continuity error with the colony commander's pocket patch changing sides.

Does anyone even want it? I can only imagine it'd lose some of its charm and effect with colour added in.

I bought the black and white version last November, not expecting the wonderful colour version to appear a few days ago. It's terrific!

I'm just treating the mistake with Ben and Polly's costume as whatever the equivalent was during the Troughton era of a Billy Fluff

I have just watched it and was very happy with it. I will also be getting the Blue Ray version (we need to support this DVD/BR to help future releases).

I can live with the standard off the animation, if it means more releases of other stories that are missing and/or not complete.

Those were actual disc errors that prevented the disc from playing correctly. The costume error doesn't.

Seen some of the colour version. Have to say I'm well impressed with it. It probably won't be my preference though
