Contestants: http://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/au...ivor/castaways

Begins tomorrow, with another episode on Monday. The nature of Australian timezones means the episodes will air in the morning (UK time) as they are around 10 hours ahead.

Hasn't it been like a decade since they last tried one of these? (and it was a bad celebrity version)

Good of them to give it an actual real go of it for real again. One supposes their Channel Ten is getting desperate simply launching new seasons of The Block and their versions of The Bachelor and MasterChef over and over and want to get some other reality shows running successfully.

Actually 10 are doing rather well, MC is so popular in places like India we are unlikely to ever get rid of it.
Bachelor is popular and has only been screening for about 3 years.
Local I'm a Celeb, was well done.

And 10 does RTV better than anyone, this version is excellent, great production.
10 has some of the best drama. Offspring is especially well done and popular.

The ghastly block is on another channel, bogan/boofy footy/blokey/sexist 9

I enjoyed the first 2 episodes although I think 24 people is a few too many and I'm struggling to remember who is who. 55 days is an awfully long time too!

I'll probably wait until the first tribe swap and rewatch the episodes as I should be more familiar with who is who by then.

As an Aussie I am enjoying this new series of SurvivorAU and not surprised that Ch10 has commissioned an Aussie series. As a huge fan of the US series which does air in Australia on the Nine network. In fact the US show has been a hit here ever since Survivor started. The US show usually airs on the thursday night the day after it airs in the USA.

This new Aussie series will be a winner for Ch10 and not surprised the went for more episodes with a 55 day run. It will air here on Sun, Mon and Tues night and there will be more twists and turns to fill the episodes.

Loving the 3 epps a week.

The presenter has these huge vains on his arms. Looks like he's been on steroids to pump up for this gig.

Lee is the hottest guy I've seen on any survivor for years. Perfect body. But he's not got a very liklable personality.

One of the girls will win this IMO.

One of those twists was to lie to the contestants of two tribes that they were voting off one member each. But after the vote they learned they really only voting them onto the other tribe. Awful. It's a game of strategy but you can't have a strategy when the rules change retrospectively. The show's producers have turned out to be no more trustworthy than the contestants.

That made me think they'd changed it to keep in a couple of lively contestants.

Though I'm glad Nick has kept in as he is at least playing the game, though the edit he gets is about as bad as it can get, so I doubt he gets to the end.

Way too much talk on this about playing honest and being yourself, like they are aiming it at the Big Brother audience. So happy Barry at least went, despite his tripe about not wanting to play the game.

Both those guys wear their caps backwards. That's a hanging offence IMO so I was dismayed when it turned out they were both staying instead of both going. Also, Nick was shocked to get the most votes. His reaction was completely wasted on simply moving to another team rather than getting the boot.

The twist was a good one and it works better if the teams are not expecting it! After all that is what a twist is all about.

I am happy about 3 days a week, reality shows in Australia now are typically Sunday to Thursday. I also watch The Project which is on before Survivor and they have the latest evictee on the show Mon-Wed.

A twist is a variation on the usual routine. It doesn't have to involve retrospectively changing the game. A twist may "work", as in shock the viewer, but if it requires the host lying to the contestants then it's crossed a line that no show should. LaPaglia has now lost his credibility as host. From now on when he tells them what they'll be voting on, or anything else, why should they believe him? One sensational moment in a long series wasn't worth making the producers/host not to be trusted and the contestants unsure what game they are playing from then on.

It's flopping sadly. And Ten have nobody to blame but themselves. At those numbers they won't get another season, not for an expensive show like Survivor.

I think it was meant for Nick and Flick (they are the ones with buddies to transfer across as well), but Flick managed to avoid going partly thanks to the idiot Conner.

Not sure why it's flopping. It's as well produced as any of the American series, and pretty much looks exactly the same.

It hasn't flopped still best show on TEN and it's up against The Block. Whether they get another season or not will depend on the sponsors whose products are placed on the show. I think it's doing well and will improve during its run. it will get another season and do better as it's a good format. The show is also repeated during the next day so you need to combine those figures.

It's getting 500-700k viewers most episodes. Mediocre, but not quite a flop by current standards.
