Thought I would create a thread for discussing the Big Top 40; as there isn't an obvious one around DS.

An interesting fault on Bauer this afternoon; local ID triggers are alerting 'Paddy's Sunday Dinner' jingles, which akwardly crash into the songs as they are of a duration longer than the 3 second standard localiser. Interesting... was listening on Hallam, anyone else noticed on any others?

The Hits and City 3 station's appear to have a different localiser to those on Global, UKRD, and 'usually' the City 1 station's which all use the same sound effects and Howard Ritchie.

Interesting... On Tay I just listened and some guy came on in the silence between the two adverts saying 'This is Tay FM with.... (whatever his name was)'. Very odd.

They would've been talking about the ending or beginning of the show where IRN3 must have been switched on early or switched off late. I've seen the Spire FM logs for the chart in the past; they have a Chart On and Chart Off Macro set to exactly the right times, there must have been some kind of error yesterday if this is the case.

It couldn't have been during the top 40; as I was listening on IRN3 yesterday and the satellite disconnects from Wireless Group to Capital just before 4, it wouldn't be possible for two feeds to be connected at the same time.

I'm going to try and see if their listen again is working

Just used the listen again section of the spire fm website it's seems to be back up and running ive listend again and i don,t recall a Signal 1 id, however during the first ad break at 16.35 i heard a Spire fm id during the silince of the two ads, so Marvin might of pressed something on the playout system.

This happened on every station, the ID was triggered during the silence between the two ads. Doubt it was deliberate, surprised the ads weren't in a Spot Block and played right through without interruption. Wonder why the silence was there in the first place?

Marvin's in Plymouth doing a DJ Set Sunday night for the bank holiday weekend starting at 10PM.

I noticed that on TuneIn, the Vodafone Big Top 40 show description has been updated to say 'Matt Wilkinson brings you the UK's biggest chart show'.

If only you could put your detective skills to some good use.

Matt Wilkinson will have to do the throwback hour on Capital Fm too.

UPDATE - Big Top 40 Twitter says Marvin & Kat are on as normal today. Don't know why TuneIn description's been updated to say Matt, perhaps he's on next week and it was updated early? Not that TuneIn is one's main source of information for who's on air anyway.

Listening on Astra 4A currently to Wireless Group's network feed; ready for the chart to start at 4PM. So good to hear Robbie's Candy again! Great show this afternoon, they are playing 2 tunes back to back from the same artist for Bank Holiday weekend!

The schedule page of the Capital website is usually changed if someone other than Marvin is presenting.

Yes it is, however if you look at the TuneIn page for the Vodafone Big Top 40 the description states 'Matt Wilkinson brings you the UK's biggest chart show' which was updated last week.

The Heart schedule doesn't ever seem to be updated when anyone other than Marvin presents; this could be due to the fact track info displays only when it's scheduled as Marvin.

I imagine on Global's CMS, The Vodafone Big Top 40 With Marvin Humes is put into the system as one show and scheduled on both Heart & Capital.

Very odd; what was playing? Was it the backup tape?

Hmm, very strange. Perhaps the 'IRN 3 On' Macro failed to fire. Or maybe they didn't have a satelitte signal. They don't have a localiser, so the emergency tape wouldn't have cut out every 5 minutes or so which is lucky!

Do stations get paid a decent amount of money to take this show?
