Unfortunately not from yesterday due to technical difficulties.

However, I have found some audio of the IRN 3 switch over which I recorded a few months back which I will upload when I get home for you all to listen too
That's good looking forward to hearing it.

Here is the full audio which I recorded from Sunday 4th October 2015; the switch over from Wireless Group to Capital and the start of the BT40 on IRN 3. This is what the satellite sounds like before it is switched on and the show goes live.

Does anyone by the way, have any audio of 8th May or 21st Feb?

Thanks for that. I wonder if some radio broadcasters are worried by the fact that it broadcasts dead air before, in between and after the 2 minute and 1 minute prompts and worry they have lost the signal.

Thanks for the audio upload I enjoyed listening to it, I like the little message when it connects to Capital London.

I think an engineer will listen to those prompts first however, the presenter will see the zetta log to see when the ads have finished and most station's air the IRN1 Sky news bulletin before the show start, but correct me if I',m wrong though.

Yes that is part of the confidence tones. You may also noticed the tones flick between left and right channels as its a stereo feed. So stations know that both channels are working. On my feeds, I have Audio 1, and Audio 2. Audio 1 has IRN 1 (news feed) through the left channel, and IRN 2 (parliament/press conferences) through the right. Audio 2 has IRN 3, which is stereo and comes through both.

There is never an engineer listening, stations know how it works. Most stations are unmanned between 4 & 7, and the idea is there is a network chart to do the job every week. That's why the 8th may caused so many stations to go dead with backup tapes kicking in.

Most stations have IRN news on at 4PM, and most stations are in automation. Macros are scheduled that switch on/off sat feeds. They also contain something which asks the local ID file to listen out for a certain code through the IRN Demux Unit. When that code is detected, the localiser fires. It provides a closing contact, like the closing contacts IRN fire to trigger the next event in the playout system after the hourly bulletins, which as we all know in the industry, is infamously known to fail. At a station I used to work at, we had a backup 'IRN 1 off' macro at 10 seconds past __:02, in case the closing contacts fail.

I posted the log which Spire FM have in Zetta. Believe this is on the previous page of this thread.

Yes I've heard both tones, I quite like it on how it works, good stuff.

How have you come to the conclusion that most stations are in automation at 4pm?

Well I know for sure UKRD, Anglian, Nation, and Central FM are in automation on a Sunday afternoon, this consists of all their owned stations.

Spire is unmanned from 12PM on a Sunday afternoon with pre-recorded output running at all other times other than 8-12 in the morning.

Not sure about Wireless Group or Bauer, Key 103 is manned 4-7.

And also, because I know a lot of people in the industry who refer to the chart as a show which fills a less attractive listening slot and there to do the job every week without the requirement of someone sitting in a studio for 3 hours doing nothing.

Anyone know how long Vodafone are set to sponsor the Big Top 40 for? They're in a partnership with Global for the next 3 years as headline sponsor for the Summertime Ball but not sure whether or not it's the same contract ?

There was an ad for the Big top 40 on Radio City last night before the news at 8pm and they did a 1 min trailer which was voiced by Kat Shoob, they do that on Spire fm too, not too sure on other stations.

Yes I mentioned this earlier in the thread. The 'Midweek Chart Update' or the 1 minute trailer is usually aired on a Wednesday evening before the 8 or sometimes 9PM news at Spire FM. Martin can't always be bothered to upload it to Zetta on a Wednesday, so it doesn't always air, but usually.

MFR's dead. I'm from the South, so can't hear it on FM but the stream sounds like a generator.

Clyde 1 on fm is sounding fine so I would imagine mfr on fm is fine.

Clyde 1 is sounding fine online too. Obviously a problem at Moray Firth's end.

Well the streak is over. No Free Radio identified on GEM.

However spotted on one of my recordings that Two Lochs Radio accidentally took Capital Jingle Bell Ball instead of Big Top 40 😂

do you have audio of this, so after the 4 pm did go straight into capital jingle bell for a few mins, or did the Big top 40 get cut off?

I've just had a look on the Two Lochs radio website on their schedule section when you click on the Sunday section, I clicked on the big top 40 section and it redirected me to the Capital London website, so they must not take it via IRN3 although they air IRN1 ?? judging by their schedule they simulcast with Magic Radio after 11pm. So with the Big top 40 they must take the Capital London feed every Sunday then, how does that work then?
