Global's stations also cannot be added to Rewind so presumably they are geo-locked too.

Didn't think Global's stations were which is why I was surprised; same error as when you try and add the Bauer stations. 'This stream cannot be recorded'

Nah I doubt it, Matt knows what he's doing. Been covering since 2009. Just look at the 8th May with the satellite connection problem, anything can happen anytime. You just don't know whats around the corner

Lincs FM have the show in mono, not sure if this is how it usually is, but it's the right channel only.

However, I do find it odd how Matt always covers solo, but whenever Greg Burns was on he would be joined by Kat. |

You would need to get a Satelitte dish put up of at least 80cm if you're in the UK, I already have an un-used one on my house so I decided to move it from the Sky position so I could pick up the IRN feed. |

It's interesting because it fired in the opening sequence but not anywhere else as far as I can see. You can hear that whenever the jingles jump from left to right for example in the opening sequence of the show: Now (Left: Now, Right: Now) that only the right channel can be heard.

I'm not sure; that's the only one I am aware of. I do recall:

Not of the satelitte feed. It comes on 1 radio channel called IRN, there are 2 audios. Audio 1 is IRN 1 (hourly Sky News) and IRN 2 (parliament and press conference coverage) and audio 2 is IRN 3 (Big Top 40 and Wireless Group network feed).

How did you set this up it sounds really technical but really cool
But personally, I moved an old 80cm Satelitte Dish used by previous home owners, to face the Astra satellite at 4.8 E, used an old satellite receiver along with an IRN Demux 2 unit to collect serial data, all from a station no longer in existence which a friend of mine used to operate. And I have my own setup in my home studio, so I can enjoy the feeds and technical data from the IRN channels for my own personal use, as it's something I am interested in but also to help me get to grips with the technical side of things, at the same time. So really for me the process was all completed at no charge, however if we're talking an individual who wants this setup it's going to cost a lot, satelitte dish fitting, receiver ect. But it is very cool, and if you have any further questions let me know happy to help

I noticed during the trailers for the Big top 40 show during the week, that on the Heart and Capital stations, they have Marvin to voice them, on the other radio groups, they have Kat shoob voice them.

Eagle, my favourite listen in my area, have Marvin voice the trailer and the opening VO which says 'The Vodafone Big Top 40' is done by Howard Ritchie. On Radio Pembrokshire and some of the other Nation Radio stations, they have Kat Shoob voice the trailer and the whole VO is done by the female voiceover on the chart, also the voice of the Heart network. Heart however, have Marvin voice the trailer and the female VO, as its their own station voice. Capital have Howard & Marvin, unsurprisingly. Its up to each station which one they use. A 1 minute version of the trailer, The Midweek Chart Update, airs on Spire Wednesday evenings just before 9. Not sure what other stations take this? Only ever heard it on Spire, would be surprised if Capital don't take it. However when Marvin was on 7-10, he used to do a live 15 minute midweek update at 8PM on a Wednesday. Presume this has now been axed. Also on the subject of trailers, Heart and Capital have another Vodafone Big Top 40 ID (in the corresponding VO explained above) to fill the trailers 3 second ending. Other stations place a local ID in this gap, either their Top 40 localiser or one of their own jingles. Some just leave it blank. |

Wireless Group Stations, Nation Stations, Amber Sound, Cool FM, Quidem Midlands Stations and All Lincs FM Group Stations Other Than Lincs FM don't have a localiser. Spirit FM have multi localisers. Lincs FM's localiser doesn't always fire off; I only heard it on the opening sequence of Sunday's show. Correct me if I'm wrong or have missed anything. |
