Capital, Heart, UKRD Stations, Bauer's City 1 Stations, Lincs FM & The Bay all have a localiser.

Wireless Group Stations, Nation Stations, Amber Sound, Cool FM, Quidem Midlands Stations and All Lincs FM Group Stations Other Than Lincs FM don't have a localiser.

Spirit FM have multi localisers.
Lincs FM's localiser doesn't always fire off; I only heard it on the opening sequence of Sunday's show.

Correct me if I'm wrong or have missed anything.
You haven,t missed anything.

Yes, what happened was from 11:00:00 until 3:56:30 Wireless Group are connected to the IRN 3 feed. At 3:56:30, the IRN 3 bleeps come on and at 3:57:00 Capital are connected an ready for the start of the Top 40.

I was listening, and as soon a I heard no bleeps at 3:56:30 an just plain silence, I knew that something wasn't right and I was full prepared for, what could've been on some stations if nobody had noticed, 3 hours of backup tapes cutting out every 10 minutes because of a local ID.

At 4PM, I heard Sky News start which was immediately faded down from someone at Signal 1. This was followed by silence, feedback, and the wireless group feed of music, and then The Big Top 40 coming back at 4:40:00 but strangely cutting out. More silence, and finally after all of that, the audio of the Big Top 40 is ISDN'd to Signal.

Ah right, thanks, I rember the feedback noise on the listen again on Spire fm, apparently on the changes to bauer thread it was coming down on a dogy line on the Bauer Stations..

Anglian Radio's stations - at least the three of the five I've heard, so i assume it applies to the other two as well - also have localisers.

Do the Anglian stations have localisers? I haven't noticed them on Dream, Radio Norwhich or The Beach.

All the localisers use Howard Ritchie's voice as far as I am aware. They also use the same sound effects. Apart from Sun FM, KLFM and a few of the Capital stations, like your local Capital N West and N Wales.

Bauer's City 3 network don't usually have localisers, but whenever I've noticed them they haven't been voiced by Howard Ritchie nor use the standard localiser FX.

Before the new Wizz FX imaging package was brought in (July 2015), Heart's Big Top 40 localiser was voiced by the female BT40 voice, who is also the Heart network voice.

Norwich and North Norfolk both have a Howard Ritchie ident. Last time I heard The Beach it was a different voice saying 'This is The Beach'. I don't know about Town or Dream.

Marvin what a joker. At the begginning of the show, changing his informal '1 minute guys' to 'We have 1 minute ladies and gents'

Metro are covering the Great North Run so have dropped the Top 40 for the week.

One of my local stations, Eagle, is breaking up a lot this afternoon. At one point I thought the backup tape would kick in, must've been at least 10 seconds of dead air.

My 80cm dish was picking it up fine yesterday; and most stations will use a dish much bigger than that. I didn't notice any other stations breaking up apart from Eagle and the two you mentioned.

Dunno why the likes of the Bauer stations still take this crap, they would be better coming up with their own offering to attract people who can't stand the chart show and that pratt that hosts it.

Well, I do like the idea of a Sunday afternoon syndicated show and I'm sure that groups like Bauer, and individual stations who carry the show do too. It fills airtime, it's easy to air, and they are getting payed for 3 hours worth of sponsorship on their station without even having to pay for a presenter etc.

However, I do think that commercial radio could easily be offering something more.

If Global wanted too, they could easily get someone better doing a live syndicated show with exactly the same setup as the Big Top 40, live on IRN 3 with Local ID's etc... but also a much better format. Including live sessions, interviews, phone-in's. That would be a great move....

I've also noticed they've cut back on their webchats; the last one was with M.O on 12th July last year... I assume this is the case because their interviews are all pre-recorded.

The vodaphone Big top 40 is fantastic, it's one of the best chart shows.

Yes The major radio groups, like the Big top 40 because it boosts their ad revenue, also they are locked in a Contract with IRN/Global till the 1st January 2019.

It is good, I just feel they could be offering much more. An entertainment show with top presenters, guest, live sessions, phone-ins (and music of course) etc.

I do remember it, however I don't recall listening to it very often as I wasn't as interested in radio as I am now. I am starting to become a bit bored with Marvin now though; such a nice down to earth guy, but I don't feel he is as fresh as he was back in 2014 when he first started.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I am very interested to see what happens this XMAS for the Top 40; I have a feeling it won't stop at just a normal chat rundown, there has got to be something extra added in, as you mentioned the Christmas jingles and the timings.
