Dunno why the likes of the Bauer stations still take this crap, they would be better coming up with their own offering to attract people who can't stand the chart show and that pratt that hosts it.
The SHC data continued to be compiled for charts on the Box Plus Network TV channels for a little while, but the TV charts later switched to using hit40uk's data, eventually carrying this on (latterly as UKHot40) after the radio show evolved into the BT40. |

I do remember it, however I don't recall listening to it very often as I wasn't as interested in radio as I am now. I am starting to become a bit bored with Marvin now though; such a nice down to earth guy, but I don't feel he is as fresh as he was back in 2014 when he first started.
I know I've mentioned it before, but I am very interested to see what happens this XMAS for the Top 40; I have a feeling it won't stop at just a normal chat rundown, there has got to be something extra added in, as you mentioned the Christmas jingles and the timings. |

It will have some XMAS music in the Chart with a mixture of the normal chart plus they will have an XMAS jingle to, I don,t know what time it will be on, last time when it was on on XMAS day they had it at 1pm till 4pm, It might be presented by Matt Wilkinson.

Will it not depend on when Global etc want to slot in their 4 hour local show personally I would have thought 10 - 2 or 12-4 would be good for local slots for christmas day. So that would leave the Big Top 40 with either 2 - 5 or 4-7

Are you sure it was at 1 in 2011? Looking back at old BT40 tweets suggest it started at 4PM on both XMAS and New Year. I honestly can't remember.

I remember TAY FM did Drivetime from 1-4pm one year with the chart show doing a one off special at 4pm (think it was on a Thursday of that year)

Looks like it may have been normal time judging by the tweets; doesn't mean to say they'll do the same this year though... as you say if we're going by the schedule, we'll find out in 94 days time!

I've just looked back at old tweets from both 2009 and 2010 and it seems there was a Chart Of The Year from 4-7 in 2009 on NYE, it was a Thursday. This hasn't been done since however; for the last few years the Sunday on or before Christmas Day they would announce their Christmas number 1 and the Sunday on New Years Day or between Christmas & New Year they would count down the chart of the year.

I'll check other shows and see; if it appears their stream is frequently skipping I'll let their engineer know, who is a good friend of mine. |

Possibly stream/server issues? Don't imagine the satellite would've caused this.

Here's a thought... On Tunein there are quite a lot of stations which have Now Playing info in addition to the Line-Up info.
Global's stations, only seem to have schedule info and no track info. If 'The Vodafone Big Top 40 With Marvin Humes', the show scheduled on the many stations that take the program were to have Now Playing details, this would then display also on Non-Global stations' Tunein I presume. |

Bauer did do their own chart show on Sundays for a time, the Smash Hits Chart which aired on the Big City (now City 1) stations, along with The Hits and Smash Hits Radio, and was also syndicated to various other stations. (Kiss took an amended version based off the same data but prioritising dance/urban tracks). Mark Goodier hosted it for a time. SHC launched in 2003, in tandem with the Pepsi Chart becoming hit40uk, and came to an end in 2006 with most stations taking the revamped (Lucio era) hit40uk from the following week.
The SHC data continued to be compiled for charts on the Box Plus Network TV channels for a little while, but the TV charts later switched to using hit40uk's data, eventually carrying this on (latterly as UKHot40) after the radio show evolved into the BT40. |
