I didn't hear any other problems? What did you notice? I also heard Matt was firing them off before the Howard Ritchie 'Vodafone Big Top 40' ID. Not a problem though, sounded alright.

There was a small bout of silence before the ads at 17:00 hours then when the ads finished the was 2 big top 40 ids playing on top of each other but after that it was all okey.

I was at a station who take the Big Top 40 today to meet a friend of mine, as we were going out for lunch during his break. I had a look at the Content Bank system which the BT40 stations use to share content (such as the weekly promo trails). It was very interesting to actually see the list of stations in the group and go back to previous years to see what content was being shared.

That's very interesting which station does he work at? Also does that softwear you mentioned above, contain audio too?

Spire FM, and the content bank is basically a place where Global share BT40 content such as the weekly promo trails etc. It's all in the cloud I belive, from what I could see. But stations have login details so obviously it can't be accessed by anyone, anywhere.

Also, on another subject Global have updated all their radio station mobile apps, the Big Top 40 app still remains untouched since July 2015. Wonder if they will ever update it?

This page was from over a year ago when the new imaging package, website and logo were brought in, and contains details about the concept for a new Big Top 40 app: http://www.joconlon.com/portfolio/big-top-40-redesign/

The designs look pretty much identical to the other new Global apps.

The show is connected up to the IRN 3 satellite feed at 3:57:00, the show feed starts at 4:02:00 to allow stations who take the hourly sky news bulletins to do so before the BT40 starts.

Local ID's are triggered from the Capital studio and sent on the IRN feed via a serial data port, which I believe is the '3rd' port.

This is decoded via an IRN Demux 2 unit and sends a signal to the station playout machine and triggering the localiser, which says the name of the station the show is being broadcast on.

The show finishes at 6:59:00, sometimes with a drone to fill up to this time, with Capital being disconnected from the satellite feed at 6:59:30. The same feed is also used for Wireless Group network feeds.

He's not on any other stations so of course he's not called Bass on any of them.
If he's known as that on Capital then that's what they'll use or it'll sound weird to Capital listeners.

James Bassam would make sense to cover the show. Has a slick presentation. Would the rivalry stations accept a weekday Capital DJ on their station giving a taste of how he does his thing?

I imagine they would have cleared it with the stations first. I remember hearing that the reason Kat Shoob was dropped from the Capital evening show when it went national was because stations weren't happy with having a Capital duo practically advertising themselves on competitor stations
