Gem 106's local ID appears to not be firing, hasn't been for a few weeks now.

Does Gem 106 have howard richie to voice the local, ID, so for example if they lost the satellite signal would the show come back on or will just play the emergancy tape because they don,t have a local ID?

Gem have a Howard Ritchie ID with all the updated (as of July 2015) FX. But it hasn't been firing, when the serial code is sent, for the last few weeks.

Well, if the satellite failed on a station that has a local ID, every time the serial trigger was sent on the feed and the ID is fired the emergency backup would keep on cutting out and re-starting itself after a further 30 seconds or however long the TX is set for. This is what happened on Sunday 8th May, although Global only managed to trigger 2 local IDs before they became aware. They were then dropped for the rest of the show that week, purely because Bauer stations were re-broadcasting another station's output.

Yes so I presume that Bauer on that day took it via ISDN from Signal 1?
Station's that were in automation (the UKRD station's and a few others) would have broadcast the whole incident, from the feed of music from Wireless Group, to silence and the BT40 eventually being ISDN'd up to Signal. |

Can't remember if I've asked before or not, but are there any stations other than Spire FM that air the 1 minute version of the weekly BT40 trailer? I would've thought Capital do, never heard it before though.

Bauer took a feed from Capital NE I believe. The local ID's were dropped for this reason.

Yes so that's why the more of the music you love slogan appeared on the UKDR Stations, did it appeared on the bauer ones?

With my IRN setup at home, the demux detects closing contacts at the end of the hourly bulletins. These trigger the next event in the station playout system.
At the end of the BT40 on UKRD stations and some others, IRN3 switches off at 18:59 and the next event is set to start at 18:59:01. Any idea why they don't use closing contacts? I'm sure it could easily be done. Or they could even set the chart off macro to switch off at 18:59:15 so at least the satellite doesn't cut out unprofessionally. It would create a much smoother transition. |

Just taken a look at the premium RAJAR details, and the total reach/share for the Big Top 40 keeps it as the UK's most listened to chart show.

I imagine Matt Wilkinson will have the chart covered on Sunday as Marvin's DJing at the Monster-Mashup in Manchester.

The show will be with Marvin & Kat today as normal, but come from Global's Manchester studios.

I notice three stations on DAB here are taking the show. Heart Extra, the local Cool FM, and now Capital UK

The Number Two, 2nd most listened to chart show was and I guess still is Pick Of The Pops which I guess still is Number 2? But I'd guess the audience has dropped on that show since Tony Blackburn left the show? |

The BBC have not published any ratings on the Radio 1 chart show for over a year now and not made any comments about listening figures since the show moved to Friday teatime! It had been in decline for a good while as was in third position.

Heard Marvin say 2 mins/ 1 mins guys, yesterday during an ad break on Capital N Wales, looks like the presenter faded up the os1 channel which is used for the ip stream to early.

Ah yes, Global usually use a default 'The Vodafone Big Top 40' Howard Ritchie ident at the end of their Capital trailers and the female voice on Heart.
I never heard it on Capital trailers before.

In exchange I have audio of a cock up by GEM 106 before Big Top 40 last Sunday where they briefly played a Free Radio advert
