It does seem a bit brutal, yet if he knows what he wants let him try it like others before him have. I'll miss one or two of the characters going long term but if we have great new characters to potentially look forward to, then it's necessary.

He really needs to start giving us something positive to look forward to now. He seems to love Carmel which fills me with dread.

So because he has axed people you like, you don't like him. Well the good thing is, producers and writers thankfully don't take everything the viewers want into consideration. Otherwise, soaps would never ever move on.

Les and Pam should not exist in the same world that gave us characters such as Den and Angie, Pat Butcher and Pauline Fowler. It's a shame a Last of the a Summer Wine ended, they'd have fitted in there perfectly. Lee is a gormless boring character. I suffered with depression, I should have been able to relate to him. I didn't. They clearly didn't know what to do with him, he changed his job as often as Hilda changes his underpants. Ronnie and Roxy are tired. They are being rested. I'm confident they will be back at some point. Buster will be completely forgotten about two minutes after he leaves. |

Wonder if Whitney will have the baby then if Lee is leaving. Or will he just abandon Whitney and the baby? They could kill him off I suppose.

God forbid he tries to freshen the show up. I honestly don't dislike any of the characters he axed, but some characters definitely needed to leave to allow some fresh, new characters to join. The show has become stagnant and boring imo and it's nothing to do with the acting and the writing is still great at times, it just needs a shake up and a bit of a change.

I didn't hear anything, but giving her the market inspector's job over Donna gives me the impression that she's going fo be dominant. She seems to be here, there and everywhere lately.

If that wasn't the case by this forum's will, half the cast would be axed for ridiculous reasons. |

He's making space for better characters to join. Eastenders is very stale and needs freshening up.
Axe even more deadwood. Bring back David, Janine and Kat. Introduce a new family with no ties to anybody else and a new Steve & Mel Owen type couple to run the Vic. |

He's just clearing up the waste. I'd like a new family too, I'd get rid of Kush.

Long term fans have seen more than just 5 characters going in one time. This is nothing.
A show has to evolve and EE has been shite for years. Maybe this is the bomb up the ass the show needs! |

I can't see SOC being allowed to get rid of 10 or more people in one go (i.e. the ones he is plus the ones who really needed to go) so we'll likely be stuck with the latter. Getting rid of them should've been the priority. He could and should have axed the ones who really stink up episodes to make room for any newbies he has planned. If he needed even more room after that only then should he have started on any of this lot. I would've thought SOC's brief would include restoring the core moral fibre of the show. The erosion of this has been one of the more criticised aspects of DTC's stint. Of those going only Ronnie will have any effect on this. I don't buy the notion that 'likeability' is a bad thing and makes characters unworthy. All of those being axed still have their flaws (without plumbing to the character damaging depths so many others have) and are interesting to watch, whilst being fundamentally likeable. That's been the mould of many successful characters over the years. |

Really? I applaud him for getting rid of them.

Buster & Lee who! |
