Actually, no I don't. I'm American. Different cultures, you know. "I'm not being funny" is just a stupid phrase that I hear some British people use about every other sentence. It's nonsensical. And irritating.
As for being a cliché, of course she is. Those come about for a reason. They're very often accurate. That's just the way that many New York Italians are. Every person in there (especially at this point) is a walking cliché. That's not all they are, but every one of them is.
