SOC is obviously quite ruthless so I think it could happen and would be another good decision.

Jake Wood is a good actor and I used to like Max but I've found him very boring for at least 5 years now. I think they've only kept him around because they struggle to create good male characters. Once he's attempted his revenge I don't see much scope for him.

His two daughters are very superficial characters who should have more depth after so long but the actresses are both weak.

If the Brannings were written out I wouldn't miss them.

Max is untouchable. He signed a new contract last year that secures his return.

Only if we're talking about Sonia, then sure!

Nobody is disputing that in the short term he has a contract to be honoured and is returning.

That doesn't translate into proof of your hyperbole claim that Jake Wood is untouchable.

Definitely! The Brannings have been going round and in circles for years (esp' Max).

Time to ditch them and bring in a new family with fresh new stories.

I wouldn't be opposed. Lauren and Scabby are well past their use by date and if we're including Sonia, yes, get rid! I'm not actually sure why she was brought back at all. Not sure about Max, see how his return goes, they may have a new direction for him.

I can't see Max getting the axe . I would think he helps Jack out with his business.

Axing loads of people won't fix the inherent issues in the show. I agree with Soc's decisions so far but I would like to know what his plans are

I have a feeling he will rebuild them.

Its likely that Jake Wood and Ann Mitchell signed new contracts last year when they went on hiatus.

Ann's contract ended in April 2015 and then she returned on a guest contract in Aug for five months and most likely signed a new one for the end of 2016 into 2017.

It is well known that DTC informed EE that he planned to leave in 2016 and he told EE this in 2015, it was likely that Sean O'Connor was hired last year when DTC informed EE that he was leaving- O'Connor would have been aware that Actors taking sabbaticals would have signed new contracts for their returns.

Wood and Mitchell could have their contracts broken of course, in a recent Interview with Nick Randall on SoundCloud- Ann Mitchell said that EE contracts are on a yearly bases.

I don't know about Ann Mitchell, but Jake Wood did say in an interview that he had signed a two-year contract (one year of which being his break), which would take him through to Sept 2017.

And surely the circumstances around his return how he was stitched up by the Beales and the Mitchells, and how he has lost everything should provide plenty of material for the writers.

So no, it is not time to axe the Brannings.

I agree. I cannot wait to see Max again. It's no secret that I love him

Three years ago, when the show was full to the rafters of Branning scum, I would have agreed. But I really don't mind Abi and Lauren, and if they can think of a new direction for Max I'd be happy for him to stay too. Jack is a plank but I suspect he will exit the show with Ronnie.

Thankfully the likes of Derek, Tanya and Joey are no longer stinking up our screens.

I agree with that too. Remember when everything revolved around the Brannings

It was unwatchable. At least when the Carters dominated they were kind of likeable. Most of the Brannings were scummy and sleazy (especially Max )

No. Other deadwood should be more up there abs plus Max/Lauren/Abi all have a place in the show still. Sonia can go. She brings very little to the show.

Phil needs a year break like Jake Wood has had. The Mitchell's var Jay, Ben, Mark and Courtney need to all go. Atleast 2 are going and I really wisg Phil and Sharon would be next.

Edit: Forgot Jack was there but he needs to go as well.

I would like Max to get a job as a milkman to rebuild his life. Obviously he is enjoying giving the local housewives the benefit of his organic red top.

On seeing Ian and Jane he would furiously rev his milk float and speed toward them at 15mph. Sadly Lauren gets in the way and falls under it's unforgiving wheels. In an effort to save her Max reverses but then runs over Jack who is standing around looking gormless.

Alice had a lot of potential especially in her exit storyline. It's a shame she left. Joey was eye candy.

Joey couldn't even speak, and the most interest Alice ever inspired was when this forum invented the conspiracy theory that she had killed herself in prison
