I get that he's the new producer and wants to make an impact but swinging his axe at the cast isnt the best way to start things. By axing characters he's basically putting actors out of jobs and it's the only thing he has done since joining.

I'm no DTC fan but I must admit that he showed lots of enthusiasm when he first joined and tried to put his stamp on the show.

I'm not impressed with SOC so far and I don't think we have even had an interview from him either.

We can't judge SOC fairly until his material is on screen.

Its not likely to be the only thing he has done, its the only thing we know about.

I am not happy with some of the axings but we have to see if the stories are as good as being made out before judging.

we also need to see what else he has done

He really does need to intersperse the axings with some hints at his vision for the show. The summer party they had on set yesterday would have been the perfect time to invite the press for a 'sneak preview' at what's coming up in the autumn but it doesn't look like that happened. At the moment all I'm getting from this guy is he's hacking away at the cast but I don't know anything else about his plans. It all feels very negative.

Yes, 3 axings must be the "only thing he's done since joining". The rest of the time he sits around trying to figure out how to infuriate a couple of members on DigitalSpy next.

I doubt he's doing it specifically so actors lose their job.

He has a show to run and he's finally getting rid of the dull cast DTC has filled the show with.

The dull ones are still there. I don't mind some axings, but he hasn't axed anyone I'd really like to see the back of yet.

He's been there two months so I doubt axing four characters is "all he has done".

Besides he isn't duty bound to keep characters/actors he doesn't think are working just because it might upset a few fans. It's a television show not a charity.

He is the boss- he is not throwing his weight around.

He is axing the right characters so far.

The way he is axing it will be causing a lot of tension on set. I do think axing Lee, Les and Pam were mistakes.

I disagree. Les and Pam have plenty left in them. Lee and Buster needed more screentime and focus to develop then where they are not over shadowed by Shirley, Mick or Linda.

Ronnie and Roxy are right choices. Longer standing characters trapped in circles or have been shoved down our throats for too long or have ran their course should always be axed over newer fresher characters. Phil, Sharon, Whitney, Billy, Mick, Shirley all fit into one of those.

Otherwise characters that no one likes because of a poor actor like Shakil or Kim.

I thought you didn't like Pam?

DTCs new family was brought in immediately, but by that point the cast was quite small so he had the capacity to do that. With SOC taking over there is already a reasonable amount of cast, so he is having to clear up some characters so he can bring new ones in and can tell his own stories.

Every time a new producer comes along we get the complaints immediately, we have to start least give him a chance folks. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I couldn't care less if most of the cast were axed. There's only a handful of characters I actually enjoy watching these days. When they don't appear it's like watching paint dry. SOC is doing the right thing clearing out DTC's deadwood.

Most producers come in and swing the axe. DTC did the same and axed 6 characters all in one go. This is just the first news we're hearing, I'm sure news of new characters and storylines will shortly follow.

I don't, but there are others I like a lot less and would have been delighted to see the back of.

If he gets the new characters right I'll gladly sing his praises, but he's given me nothing to feel good about yet.And he needs to get these axings over with. The uncertainty is not good.

BIB This is your opinion and should be respected Vas but don't throw it about as if it's fact because it's not. Some people may disagree with some of who he has got rid of. The fact you think he's right doesn't make it so.

He is just putting his mark on the show as has every EP before him. I am looking forward to seeing an interview with him outlining his ideas and visions for the show.

It's far too early to judge yet. I am surprised by his axing of Ronnie and Roxy but not overly concerned and agree with all the other axings. I just hope he gets rid of some more deadwood such as Billy Shakil and Tina.

I suspect SOC will be the worst EP who ever lived when its finally revealed there are no plans for Cora to return.

I want to hear about his vision for the show and I think it's a bit strange that we've heard nothing yet.

Yay welcome back Sorcha

I agree it's time we heard a bit more about his vision, it's been all too quiet so far
