Result! I'm glad I misread the signs!!
One of the things I particularly dislike is contestants like Jimmy who smugly boast 'I never follow recipes'. They turn up every year. And every year a large percentage of the pressure tests involve following recipes. If they haven't practised following recipes under a time limit they deserve to go home. They were ridiculously simple dishes, but an hour to prepare three dishes following someone else's recipe under pressure is quite tough, I think. It's preparing them to an unfamiliar recipe that's the kicker. Have we finished with Nigella now? Are they all simpered out? |

I really hate to break it to you (truly I do, sad face here), but we've got her for the whole week - including the 1-hour masterclass on Friday! So three more nights with her and then we're done...it's like MPW, they seem to search out the annoying and patronising and inflict them upon us for a specific amount of time...I would love to look and check to see if we have MPW for another week (like last year) but I don't want spoilers!
![]() I'm fairly sure someone said MPW would be back for another week. At least his cod philosophy and little homilies about 'when I was a young man' can be ff-ed and I do find the way he thinks he's handing out wisdom as if it was carved on tablets of stone quite funny. And even if he's past his prime he's actually been a chef, rather than an average cook with connections. Although I noticed that the repetition virus had infected George last time he was there - George has enough verbal tics with his constant 'yeah' without adding someone else's. Where's Heston when we need him!? |

was about to post the same thing
couple of little asides about the presence of nigella. the regular judges really seem to be fawning over her and agreeing with everything she says, and maybe its just me but i find her voice/accent to be incredibly similar to MPW Have to agree about Nigella sounding incredibly similar to MPW! Very odd. I find her nauseous to be honest - the alabaster complexion and décolletage reminiscent of a damsel from the 1850 is so off putting. Added to that her munching of every plate of food, yuk! And the "stress" she displayed when the contestants were valiantly trying to accomplish her challenge was just too intrusive - leave them alone for goodness sake. Now to Jimmy - how did he finish all 3 recipes? Shocking manipulation of the viewer. With minutes to go he hadn't done his garlic dippy thing or meat juices (which looked horrible on Nigella's version IMO). They did at least show him throwing the starter together which must have tasted horrible. I like Miles but I think the judges are desperate to get rid of him. He did a decent job. I know he squeezed the dressing out of the crab but it must have tasted if dressing and it would have been in the salad. Cummon AMC lets get back to the believable cooking by the contestants and believable discussion amongst the judges. One last thing - who thinks the difference in terms of dishes compared to USM is like the difference between school dinner 🍲 and Michelin star! 🍮 |

I forget to log on for a couple of days and the thread goes crazy!
I was internally screaming at Chloe last night to get her panacotta out of the fridge. Very nice editing to ramp up the drama as we all knew Chloe was safe if she got all her dishes up as she was clearly in control. Delighted Jimmy has gone. I don't like contestants who big themselves up so early in the competition before they've really done anything (Karmen take note) but how annoying was his sister? I would have told her a fair few f bombs because how on Earth would you be able to concentrate with that in your ear non-stop? Miles is meh. He's not a bad cook per se but he doesn't seemingly have the skill set to go deep as he has shown very little flair. It is all safe and solid. Nice to finally get to see some of Elena on Monday. Still loving Anastasia in terms of cooking and personality. Not a huge Nigella fan but I prefer her to MPW. Heston of course is still the king of the guest chefs and I think always will be. The way they reacted to him coming into the kitchen last year was so cool. |

I am just catching up with a whole raft of episodes. God I want Jimmy to go. I did at least like the fact that Theresa told him not to stress her out when he was barking at her from the gantry when she was in elimination.
I am in the minority in that I like Nigella. Compared to MPW who I want to smack round the head with a frying pan. Hey did anyone pick up on George starting to repeat things like MPW? Stop that IMMEDIATELY little man.... It does drive me nuts the varying accents between Jimmy and Theresa? At least the odious Jimmy is going. That's a silver lining, but surely Miles is not far behind. Who would have thought that he would go before his overshadowed sister? Maybe without him 'hoovering all the air' as Raye says she will really start to come into her own. |

There's a difference in the siblings' ages (a fair few years I think) and perhaps where they learned and who taught them made the difference. When I was a teenager I dated a German boy and he spoke English with a decidedly American accent because he was being taught English by an American. |

She got a tv gig because someone in tellybox land decided that her brand of mild food porn was entertaining ![]() No serious cook EVER rushes off to consult their failsafe Nigella recipe in times of need. Delia, hell yeah and Nigel Slater but Nigella? Not in my house - I've never cooked a single one of her recipes. Oh and for baking, it has to be Mary Berry ![]() I don't rate her - she was much more interesting as a character when it turned out she was a coke-fiend who smoked spliff with her daughter ![]() I can't wait 'til she's gone tbh. Watching the judges fawn over her is embarrassing. They're more 'starstruck' than the contestants ffs. |

Some if them even win ... ![]()

Mimi is such a sweetie, really hope she gets the chance of immunity
And my immediate thought for the challenge was French toast too - although I would have used the croissants and done some sort of compote with it

I assume the chefs not based in Australia don't see the point in just doing the one show but might as well do a week's worth if they are in the area and/or turning up especially for it?

Does no one else think that Matt looks like a young Judge Rinder?
I still like him though! Quote:

I thought people like MPW and Rick Stein and Heston had restaurants and/or business interests in Australia so are there part of the year anyway?

You're probably right! I was grasping at straws to understand the "block bookings" of some of the guests...

Now... Who can tell me who will cry/say 'this is my thing'/wail 'this is a disaster...this could send me home'.... ![]() Very happy for Harry, he doesn't say he's a dessert King or anything other than a good all rounder from what we've seen so far Well, really I'm just pleased it wasn't Karmen

I'm having to watch a day behind, so I've just finished last nights. Wooopeeee thank heavens for that! I really don't know why Jimmy annoyed me as much as he did but he did.
I really hope that Theresa can now shine and be her own person without him breathing down her neck, although I could cheerfully have throttled her for her commentary from the gallery. |

I think that the fact Lachlan said he wasn't keen on making desserts and they weren't his strong suit helped to guide Harry into making his decision. Shannon is such a good mentor too...love him in this.
Who was the bint on the balcony shouting "Make sure all your elements are in the plate!!!" ? No one says that in real life do they? Did Gary tell her to say that? |
