I have just one question at the moment...WHY did Brett cut the swiss roll as he did? Odd is a word I would choose.

WHY ARE THEY ALL IGNORING THE BATTENBURG? Don't they have them in Australia? Or Simnel cakes?

Dundee cake makes me shudder. My granny made one at Christmas one year, and it lasted for WEEKS. Every time we saw her she asked if we'd like some Dundee cake. It wasn't unpleasant or anything, just ENDLESS. I then went to uni in Dundee and she made me another one to take with me.

Maybe they're dying out. We always had one, even though we're not religious at all. We're just a marzipan fan family.

Yes, it's an Easter cake. I haven't had one in several years, but we did always have one when I was a child.

We used to have one but I LOATHE marzipan, so I never ate it. It's funny, I really like almonds, and like frangipane, but really cannot stand the sickly sweet flavour of almond paste with so much icing sugar in it (don't like fondant either - and I make cakes with the stuff).

doesn't charlie consider himself to be a rival to carmen as the "dessert queen" so he'll be fancying his chances to survive

Think that Con will be the one that goes. He's making a pound cake. Incredibly basic, and unless the other two absolutely screw up the fact that he doesn't have anything more than the base level experience with baking cakes will give them the edge over him.

altho the cake itself is simple it sounds like he is trying to jazz it up a bit with the other elements

I'm not ready to say goodbye to Con

Ok DS'ers, what cake would you do?

I'd go for my sticky toffee cake with butterscotch marscapone - hasn't killed anyone yet

What, a simnel cake?
I used to make one every Easter. But I am very old!

Wow, they've really struggled to stretch Nigella out for a week, haven't they?!
