I would make my chocolate brownies - it was originally a Nigel Slater recipe but I've adapted it over the years and even though I'm not a chocolate fan usually, it does taste pretty good. I always get good comments about it. I suppose I could jazz it up a bit with some sort of raspberry coulis and a creamy thing.

I'd make a lemon drizzle cake with a ribbon of lemon curd running through the middle of it (mostly because I love lemons probably more than any of the judges)...I inject the lemon curd into the cake after it cools so that when you cut into it there is lemon curd in the middle.

Orange carrot jam makes more sense mimi, thank you!

I even have a gluten-free recipe for it - as at Christmas I have to make a cake or two for a coeliac in-law of my sister. Realised that occasionally you have to adapt things, and it seems to work quite well.

Did I really just hear Charlie say "I want to put cream on the cake to cut through all the fat"? He does realise that double cream is fat, right?

Actually the subtitles said orange first, then onion the second time. So it's anyone's guess!

Matt's cake is the one I want to taste.
Dammit, I haven't made my brownies in AAAAGES (my oven is borked) but now I'm thinking I really need to make some. |

Is anyone else thinking that Nigella's week should have been right at the beginning when they were sorting the original wheat from chaff, rather than after MPW's week which was much more complicated and had harder challenges? Nigella's not got the same sort of kudos as a properly trained chef, she's a cook and her challenges could have just as easily been set by a member of the WI - who doesn't make a disproportionate Vicky sponge!
