Nearly finished with season 6 - I can't even remember who wins, either Brent or Laura. Emelia just baked a "baklava" that was a parfait and nowhere near enough pastry. George hailed it as better than anything any chef has ever made to replicate baklava including every single person in Greece
![]() I forgot to mention before how awful I found Jamie as well - how did everyone else feel about him? Incredibly arrogant, and worse than Emelia as he frequently produced crap dishes but often miraculously avoided the bottom three. For some reason people rated him, particularly Sean and Ben who otherwise would have been contestants I liked, apart from they believed that this was Jamie's competition and they were mostly making up the numbers. That Jamie was presented as this big contender when he made so many mistakes was mind boggling. I haven't been watching all the eps, I think I remember something like he had given up his job and had no money, his daughter had a disability and now his wife was having a second baby? Perhaps they wanted to keep him in come what may because they felt viewers would be rooting for him? |

I was talking with my mum this afternoon and she said "seriously, a Vic sponge takes 25 minutes to bake in the oven, and about 10 to mix...he could EASILY have made one, but instead he makes a pound cake and continues to make it even though he's been told it won't be cooked in time...he deserved to go for that alone."

What was George talking about?
"I want to make a sweetcorn custard and a miso caramel and put the fish on top." Sorry? What now? Really? My stomach (I have to admit) started churning at the thought of it. |

I'm about five minutes behind - what's Zoe doing? 250 for cooking a cake? Surely it'll burn on the outside and be raw in the middle?

Chloe does have a look of Emilia about her (but with added tattoo's) thankfully she seems nicer

I'm guessing they've got to use their leftovers for the invention test.
ETA: because they haven't telegraphed it since the beginning.

Zoe made a huge mistake with her cake and I think that she realised that when it was in the oven and she had to turn it up - it looked really dry and heavy (as she rightly said "like a brick"). |

i think i was in the minority that liked emilia, i think she just had a bit of a sharp sense of humour and it came across differently on screen. she always seemed really popular with the other contestants which if she had been as cocky and arrogant as she was painted probably wouldn't have been the case.

It is odd about the Battenberg - surely one of the most distinctive cakes in the Western world!? Or maybe it's gone out of fashion.

Well, a lot of the contestants are using miso...I can see that it's quite a versatile ingredient, but looking at it I can't see it being appetising on its own.

Karmen says that she's not confident with savoury dishes as she prefers desserts, were we aware of that? 🙄

It's a sphere Charlie not a dome *tuts*
I don't really like miso, I always think I will and then I try it and remember that I don't |
