Brett as team captain? I think that team might well be losing. Zoe is a strong lead and even though she is young that's not going to make a difference if she performs as well in this kitchen as she normally does in the MC one.
It's Miles, isn't it? I get those two confused but isn't Brett the one with the eyes and the smirk?.

Oh great, wheeling George's mother in again. She doesn't like amyrhung that's not traditional usually.

It looks as if Zoe's got a strong team. Tram challenges can throw up surprises, though.

Shows you how memorable some of the contestants are this year - some of them I don't recall seeing from one episode to the next.

It's the park ranger rather than the pirate - don't really like either of them

Matt's eyes nearly fell out of his skull when that lamb was wheeled in

Just because there's 2 pins there, I wouldn't want to be on the blue team

I never watch the intro - can't stand the theme tune - so I don't normally get their names until we're down to the last half dozen. But Brett annoys me for no obvious reason so I find him easier to remember.

Oh crikey, yes, I hadn't thought about that. Let's hope the curse of the blue team doesn't strike!

Aah, the blessed blue team curse!

Love how George's mum looks exactly like him, except a bit older and with hair and added lipstick

It sounds like the red team are having a good day - albeit a slow one - in the kitchen. Zoe really knows her Greek cuisine.

Is Chloe doing the same butterscotch sauce she did on her jaffle yesterday?

Probably!

I adore feta, but with doughnuts? Not sure about that.

The crumbly salty cheese with super sweet dough? My idea of food heaven. I seriously adore salt and sweet together, it's such a tongue-tingling combination. Clearly they should have gone a little bit less overboard with the cinnamon sugar on them though.

I am now feeling really hungry, but it's far too late to make/eat anything now

Lol, I think it's because doughnuts are really far too sweet for me. I used to love fruit cake and a very mature cheddar when I could eat cake. And jam and cheese sandwiches, when I could eat jam. And white bread. And dairy.

Sigh.

Charlie in an elimination? Quelle surprise...

It was another close one, and an excellent opportunity for over dramatising the will he/won't he aspect of Matt's immunity pin. What if he doesnt play it and gets eliminated?!

*hugs* would hate to have such a restricted diet

Although I am trying to temper my eating currently - I'm 6 weeks into being off work sick and my calorie burn is barely in double figures most days!

That is always the risk when someone's got an immunity pin and they feel guilty. Matt's the one who made the cinnamon mixture AND coated all the doughnuts, so it's possible he'll take a hit for the team and not play his pin because of it (fingers crossed he won't). It's a shame they can't find out what the elimination challenge is before they have to decide about the pin use.

It does mean you have to get creative and it can be a pita if you're knackered and would just like a sandwich. But I've found ways to substitute for things I can't have and I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I don't miss desserts. Much.

I lost five stone in nine weeks when I first got sick. I don't recommend it - it makes it hard to come through emergency surgery!!!

Hope you're better soon, it's no fun at all being sick.

It's still a shock when you have to start looking for alternative - when hubby was diagnosed type 1 diabetes way back when we were in our 20's, it was a real shock, and I did drop a ton of weight in the beginning as substitutes were found for many of our usual foods. 25 years on and it's just a way of life now

And thanks for the good wishes, I stupidly fell down a hole and broke my leg and my shoulder, but am finally getting better!

You're not wrong there. Restrictive diets are harder to accommodate when it comes to quick food prep. I would love to be able to make something with a quick stock; instead I have to boil bones, or loads of veg as every single shop available stock cube/pot seems to either use soya-based flavourings/preservatives, or yeast extract. It's become even harder to do quick prep for lunches and things since even wheat free breads now use soya flour (thanks so much for that!).

I sympathise with anyone who has to avoid certain food groups, it makes convenience foods hard to come by, but sometimes you really just want to pick a tin of curry paste from the shelf in the supermarket! Shopping now takes twice as long!

It seems to me to be stretching it a bit to call the first round 'something new' when the only difference from other blindfold taste tests is that the food is in cubes.

Can Charlie survive another elimination? Didn't Julie in the first year do a ton of eliminations and still win?

I can't believe that Charlie has managed to survive another elimination, only because others were worse than him! Oh who is going to go home out of these guys?

That round is SO not fair. They should make them all taste as many cubes as each other because two of the last three hadn't even tried the next one and could have got it wrong too.

He's got more lives than a cat.

i don't feel as if I know anything about Heather, and not a great deal about the others, aoart from Cecilia. I don't see her as being particularly strong but it's not an easy one to take a punt on!

Right now I bet that Matt is thinking "thank f**k I used the pin, I'd have got that one wrong, and that one..." Cecilia is the only one I really know (though Mimi is becoming more known if only because of the strange way they pronounce her name). I think that Cecilia is in a bit of trouble though - she took so long thinking about the ingredients to get, and ham is a bit of a test to prepare if you're cooking it.

Another episode that felt absolutely butchered in the editing to fit the slot, or was it just me? Also, the once inch cube round, what the heck?

Heather was funny - so much lemon she might as well have just crumbed a lemon and served that. But at least most of what she plated looked and tasted good. Think it was right that Cecilia went on the basis of not actually putting much ham in her ham dish (and when did they "lose her the first time"? Was that in an early episode I missed?). Though it is always a bit of an unlevel playing field when everyone gets given a different ingredient, especially if the time is tight.

Had a thought -are Gary, George and Matt contractually obliged to always sit in the same order? Do they ever mix it up? Is there any reason why they always have to have the same position?
