Definitely, she's so happy and she really knows her stuff - but perhaps she knows her limits?

And I have never understood how anyone could call something made with tofu a cheesecake since it is not cheese?
I know - it's crazy

They're really impressed with Elena's GF noodles, must admit they look great! Chloe is in trouble...

I have to admit that I've barely noticed Elena up until now, she's been one who looks like Chloe but has stayed pretty much in the background. Chloe is definitely in a little trouble right now, she's cooked something that none of the judges look massively impressed with. Could this put her in the running to be in the bottom three?

Love Maggie Beer, she's so smiley
But I doubt she will be around the whole week...she's normally only on for a ay or two - just as Nigella should've been.
A shame isn't it? I reckon we would have all preferred a Maggie week

Just me who finds her cloyingly sweet and, given her phenomenal success, rather unbelievably so?

I miss the mystery box/invention test format. It's my favourite.

Maybe she's like Paula Deen...lovely in front of the camera because she knows her audience needs to like her and a nightmare behind the scenes...(though clearly everyone now knows that Ms Deen isn't all nice nice in reality).

I get cross with Maggie's verjuice (or whatever it is) but I don't like to think that she's someone who punches kittens behind closed doors ...

She might be absolutely lovely IRL but I just feel as if she needs her ego stroked constantly - it's the Princess Di downward glance and grin every time anyone says how lovely she is - and it puts my teeth on edge. I'm sure it says more about me than her but I grew up with someone who everybody thought was absolutely wonderful and really wasn't!

Zoe's beginning to come to the front, along with Matt, isn't she? Any bets on whether Charlie ends up in elimination?

Well, he's very sure of his flatbreads

Also taking bets on Elise's caramel stuff being "too eggy"

He's not using the proper recipe for the flatbreads because he doesn't have the right ingredients...why make something if you don't have the ingredients you are familiar with for it? I think that it's highly possible he'll be heading into elimination again - perhaps this time he'll be the victim rather than the victor!

Was just going to edit mine to say he isn't so sure now! It does irritate me when they just try and wing things like that

Please Charlie, do us all a favour!

HIs main concern is the bread? Jeez, the lumps of mince in the middle hardly look like they could be easily stuffed in the mouth without the aid of a knife and fork!

I had a bit of a soft spot for him to start with.

I'm over it.

Sure thing for elimination surely!

And did Karmen steal Cecilias croquette idea from last weeks elimination? How rude!

I still have a soft spot for Harry, and I can't for the life of me explain why

But she was eliminated.

Anyone know what verjuice is?

It's juice made from sour fruit, often grapes but can be other fruit like crab apples.

Harry's in trouble!

Thank you - not something I think I will be experimenting with.

Charlie is also in trouble, they really didn't like his dish.

Brik pastry is really this years thing now - not sure I've seen it before this

It looks quite versatile. I might have to look up a recipe and try it for myself, though not sure how it would be used in normal everyday cooking.

I can't believe that Brett (irritating, infuriating Brett) is in the immunity challenge!

I am not, however, surprised that Charlie and Nicolette are in the elimination challenge...sort of disappointed that Harry is. I think that Nicolette will use her pin so it'll be Charlie, Elise and Harry tomorrow (I think).

Oh if Nicorette plays her pin....I was wondering what she was thinking with her "beautiful grainy texture"

Agree, Zoe's really shining - I love how she doesn't just play it safe with dishes that are good enough to keep her from bottom 3.

She does dishes that get tasted a fair bit too

Anyone else sick of hearing Charlie say "If this doesn't work out, I'm going to be in really big trouble"

I want him gone next

EDIT: I'm with you re Maggie...........too sickly sweet for me

She'd be daft if she didn't. But she's very young and could well be daft.

It'll be banging head against the wall time if Brett wins a pin. He'd be Smuggy McSmugface.

I have heard of brik on other cookery programmes but I've never used it.

Even worse will be the fact that he'll spend the entirety of his time in the challenge (hopefully he won't get through the first round) talking about how he's doing this for his son who's a chef!

I was quite surprised that Maggie was one of the judges on Australian Bake Off. I thought she'd be too uncomfortable being critical and eliminating people, but she managed it alright.

Quite a lot of "beeeauuuudifullll" comments today

Pancetta fat parfait!? Is this the latest variation on the "custard" theme that is applied to any savoury flavour? I'm looking forward to roast beef parfait with an onion custard tomorrow. It's a clever way to ensure that almost any mystery box/invention test has a full array of sweet dishes for the dessert queens/kings to do...

Sorry, I'm also in the "not that much of a fan of Maggie Beer" camp. Couldn't take a whole week of her, though one episode is fine I suppose. "Cloyingly sweet" is a good description. Sometimes you just need a bit of acid to cut through all that sweet

Is that where her verjuice comes in?

Yeah, couldn't Chloe have called it something better than pancetta fat parfait? That's the least appetising sounding thing - basically just a slab of lard parfait style? *vomit smiley*
