But there are still so many of them I sort of lose track of who is who apart from the stand out annoyances like Startled Wabbit Matt, Brent the Pirate, and thank god Charlie has gone - he was really beginning to bug me and I had to laugh at the pre-ad-break shot of all the judges looking unimpressed when he tried to smash his Dome of Impossible Chocolate!

I've reached a milestone today! During the opening credits I could correctly state "Gone, still there, still there, gone" etc for each of the contestants! For the past three weeks, the names have been peppered with "who the hell are you?"
Kylie looks like she's aged a bit - mentoring took its toll... I also added just a smidge of "HOW ARE YOU STILL IN" *cough* Miles/Brett *cough* How much spice did Nicolette add to that mango mush??? |

Hahah I am still at the "who the hell are/were you" - Adam, anyone?
I also added just a smidge of "HOW ARE YOU STILL IN" *cough* Miles/Brett *cough* How much spice did Nicolette add to that mango mush??? It seems to me that they're setting Nicorette up with a smoking gun.... Anastacia likes chillies doesn't she?!

I never get there - I always start late enough that I can ff through the opening credits, can't abide the theme song.

The way the editing has been going this series, wouldn't surprise me if the yellow team won by a landslide - at the moment it looks like they're floundering...
Interesting point about youngsters getting a Masterchef leg up into the industry, I hadn't really thought about it until now! |

The lack of a third dish at the start... cost the, dear and if Nicolette on her own was a smoking gun at least it backfired...

Interesting that it was a team challenge where it comes down to who has the most money, but this time they told them what prices to set the dishes at. I think I much prefer that to the Apprentice style "let's win the task by cooking cheap shite and selling it for huge markup" philosophy. |

I don't have a problem with teenage contestants. Masterchef is a big adventure aside from the cooking and the career opportunities it might open up. I can't begrudge anyone of any age wanting to do it. Laura was 18 and got to the final. On cooking ability she certainly deserved to be there. |

Just catching up on the last week. Dessert overload. Chloe was able to cook desserts for everything that lead up to the first pin, and then again for the attempt on the second pin? I'm not here for a baking show where people learn baking recipes and then shoehorn them in. Was that duck fat parfait thing sweet or savoury? I still have no idea. It sounded rank.
Someone at MC must think we want to see desserts because of bake off success or something, fill the show with "dessert queens" and get them to cook it as often as possible. I think it irritates me that I'm watching a cooking show and they are using it as their leg up into being a pastry chef, even though that's not the point of the show. Good for them, boring to watch. |

Glad red team won, yellow team felt a bit teacher's pet
It was calculated of the yellow team to choose two dishes (though I don't blame them). The red team worked harder to offer the customers more and deserved to win.

Me and the Missus caught up last night.
Chloe really is dense..... Choosing 2 dishes instead of 3 when the Reds did 3, she should have been lynched for that by her team when she decided it. Bad move. She also knew full well what she was getting by having Matt as her partner, and her Immunity Pin cook-off showed that. When pressure is on, she makes mistakes. The weaker chefs left I think are Chloe, Karmen, Miles, Brett, Elise And for me the top ones are Matt, Zoe, Heather, Mimi The rest are sorta middle of the pack; Trent, Nicolette, Elena, Harry (I dislike him immensely though....) and I'm missing one... can't remember who it is! I think Matt and Zoe have the most potential. Zoe isn't afraid to take risks and is good enough to pull it off, and Matt is a damn good cook IMO. |

he probably hasn't, but considering i think matt is one of the stronger ones as well, he seems to have been on the losing team in the team challenge most weeks

a lucky dip challenge
elena - pork and spanish myles - fish and japanese harry - shellfish and indian zoe - fruit and american mimi - lamb and thai matt - beef and lebanese last 2 are the weird combos as you dont get alot of lamb in thai cooking or beef in the middle east edit : myles was probably my pick to get eliminated, got very lucky with his picks of ingredient and cuisine but he looks to have lost the plot a bit |
