Nearly spit my tea out when Elise was saying that she needs to have more confidence, I think she needs less if anything!

I was so sure that Elise was going to go. The fact that all of a sudden the syrup and the sorbet were the most important parts of the dish when Elise screwed up the butter and the biscuit makes me wonder if they didn't have a little chat and say "people will find us more sympathetic if we keep her." Disappointed in the result, I think it was the wrong one.

Agree with all of the above! I don't know what it is about Elise - it's not exactly smugness, I don't think, it's something like a sense of entitlement oozing from her. Anyone else would have been worried about not getting the slices of peach all the same size, but not Elise. It's that skating by attitude that grated with me tonight - and George wasn't happy with the mess she was making, was he? - when we're always being told how precise you have to be with desserts. Although Zoe didn't do herself any favours by not following the recipe and messing up the sorbet.

Did he already have his little breakdown in the pressure test?

It's a more vanilla set of contestants than usual (e.g. there's no equivalent of Georgia this time) so there weren't that many strong feelings expressed about them. The most negative comments were probably for Matt. He just rubbed some people the wrong way (including me). No one was particularly popular.

The most stark difference between here and there is over Nigella. There wasn't a single negative comment about her in the local forum and many positive ones. I thought she had a good week too.

I have to say I haven't taken to him at all. He can certainly cook but I find him annoying for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe I feel like he overreacts to everything and his humbleness is a bit disingenuous.

I know that some people find the tears a bit annoying but it's worth remembering that for some of us it's a reaction we can't help in a stressful situation. I'd give anything not to cry at those times but I'm sure if I were on Masterchef I wouldn't be able to help it, it's just my reaction to stress. However I do agree that I'm not terribly interested in sob stories and wish the producers would show a bit less of it!

^I'm yet to come across a single person on a forum who actually likes the sob stuff, but there must be an audience for it, or some pay-off for the show, or they wouldn't keep doing it. We do know that the contestants are under enormous stress (and deliberately so), much more than comes across in the final edit, which means that for some contestants it takes very little to open the floodgates.

I agree. It's good to remember this against the "crying = instant disqualification" posts. I don't think they're all doing it on purpose.

i dont agree that tonight was a terrible decision as the way matt explained it made sense, the elements zoe screwed up on were more integral to the final dish than the ones elise did

I feel the same. We only see a fraction of what goes on over very long days and the combination of pressure and tiredness must be pretty overwhelming at times. I know chosen to be there but they're still away from home and they wouldn't be human if that didn't get to them sometimes too. On top of all that the judges clearly have a brief to try and 'break' them - witness the comment in last night's about how long it took Billie to 'discover her feelings' - and you have a very volatile situation. I'd be surprised if none of us had had days where something is the last straw and we react emotionally in some way, whether it's tears or temper. This is that sort of feeling magnified a gazillion times.

I don't have a problem with Matt, although I don't loooove him. There's no one to love for me this year and most of the women seem to have been cloned.

I thought Elise should have gone last night but Zoe made a terrible error with the syrup and that snapper on Monday was very poor.

My predictions for the final three are Matt (like everyone), Anastasia and Mimi.

On Monday six of them were wearing either peach or pink tops.

Anastasia and Elise have very similar features. I think of them as the sisters from Frozen - one more natural, the other more blonde. They share a bench too.

Just finished season six again. Were there any conspiracy theories on here, because I have one.

I thought it was strange how they eliminated teacher's pet Emelia when they could have got away with keeping her (since Laura was cooking the quail to order and served whatever that mousse/parfait thing was as a slop).

I wonder now if she was sacrificed so Brenty could win.

tbh I hated Emelia and was glad when she went.

As for this series I think the fact there is no one to hate like Georgia has maybe taken the enjoyment away for some as there isn't anyone that is overly unlikeable, they are tending to go as soon as they fail consistently whereas in the past I think they may have gotten away with it. It is nice to watch without having to see Gary favour an average blonde contestant that flutters their eyes at him like in the past.

I think the biggest issue for me is on the focus on desserts, it would be nice to see more variety and also more location challenges because they are always good to watch.

I couldn't stand Emelia's bad attitude and reliance on desserts, though her savoury usually looked good but of course it's Masterchef Australia so best to stick to the parfaits

People hated Georgia?! I do recall when she cooked to come back onto the show, she did a really good dish, and I felt annoyed that she hadn't pushed herself like that when she was a contestant.
