Rats, rats, rats. He's going to outsmug himself now.
Maybe he'll puff up so much that he'll suffocate himself and tomorrow we'll hear all about how he was so overblown that he exploded.

Karmen: I didn't know how to put the carrot on the plate to make it look nice. Whaaaat? That was very nice of the judges to basically let them all run out at the end shouting CAAAAAAARRROOOOOOTTTTS.

I was half expecting Anastacia to run into the relay and throw everything away for a nice savoury parfait. Disappointing.

And what the heck is that green...hair?

These challenges are always massively improved by the sole berk who decides to ignore everything that's being done and just change tack 90 degrees halfway through. Brett, take a bow, son.

I caved.

I'm sorry.

THIS WEEKEND I'M MAKING A PARFAIT.
Blue cheese and chicken liver flavoured?

Theresa was a disgrace! Choosing to go first and then not knowing what to make!!!! AND they didn't use anything that she made - unless that green (!) candy floss was hers - yuk.
I feel sorry for the rest of that team. 🙁

What's the name of the female contestant in the blue team who went up first.

I thought she was eliminated the week after her brother. OT; they both came across as extremely smug and was happy to see the back of them both.

Why is she back? Was someone else kicked off the show or something, and she was brought back?

The red team completely owned it.

Matt is my tip to win Masterchef Australia Series 8.

Although Chloe was in the losing team, she KNEW the dish wasn't right. She WINCED at the lemon medicine. Make sure all of this stays in the edit! And she was responsible for that really inventive troll hair that Heather cooed over! What, you don't want to eat troll hair? But Chloe did it, so it must be excellent.

Poor John, he was extremely apologetic after the veloute incident but they won't let him live it down.

They did the usual "all the eliminated contests return for a cook-off to get back in", she memorised one of Reynold's desserts from her work experience, hey presto back in the show.

Three questions:

1. On what planet did Karmen have 'a fantastic cook'
2. Why TF is that idiot Brett still in there?
3. What possessed Elena to have Karmen as her 2nd pick with all those great cooks to choose from?

Three of life's great mysteries.

Gives us hours of entertainment, though!

Indeed

If there's any justice in the world, Theresa will be on her bike.

Her brain fart at the beginning was typical of her and although she's been good since her return, being away and getting in all that practice gave her an unfair advantage over the others IMO

Hope she goes then Karmen or Brett next.

Is Matt the genius of the group that everyone picks him for their team.

Power apron week was a bit of a damp squid for me, no one really got an advantage except Anastacia, must think of something more adventurous for next season.

As for the outcome of this week, it does smack of 'fix'. As ever with these shows, we only see what the producers want us to see. We only hear what the judges are told to say.
After watching for eight seasons I don't think the judges are told what to say. It's impossible to know, but I haven't seen signs of it. I wouldn't be surprised if the judges have their personal favourites, but that's just normal and human, not necessarily directions from above. I also think that in the last few weeks they can have a preferred winner - someone who'll be a good ambassador for the show in the media. That was most evident in season 4 when they gushed over every dish of Andy's. It was excessive and looked like he was being favoured. His fish dish in the finale didn't even meet the brief, but that was overlooked as they raved about it.

i thought it was the worst decision ever to let theresa go first considering how much of a dither she is

I love this forum because we all agree Brett has to go!!!!!

Theresa is a disaster 10mins in the pantry what the heck was she doing but running around in circles! Chloe should have used her common sense with the syrup.

But the highlight for me was 'little miss I'm so great' Karmen missing off the carrots and Harry looking like he could punch Bretts lights out over the triffle that wasn't meant to be!

I'm now confused over who is the weakest...

I was watching in bed on catch-up as I was watching the football this evening. The moment Anastasia did a parfait I thought about this forum and you lot and when she tried to do a second one I decided I couldn't wait for the morning and had to read your comments on it all. Taking a risk in the mystery box when there are no consequences is the right strategy, making a parfait isn't a risk, certainly not in this season.

As for Theresa going first? Whose bright idea was that? If the pressure test tomorrow is a savoury dish then she's surely big favourite for the chop. Anastasia (parfait meltdown withstanding) Chloe and Heather are all far superior cooks to Theresa. I want her gone. Now. I know many here don't like Chloe's tears and I don't either but I don't think they are fake so I can forgive it to some degree. She is certainly more worthy a place in the kitchen than Theresa.

As for the Pirate. I reckon whoever it was who said Brett didn't know what a trifle is was right. It isn't a complicated dish and was a good idea. It was something straightforward enough that people could do it in a relay. I did though love seeing John and his 'white chocolate veloute' again. That made me smile because it was so self-centered and selfish, yet awesome TV.

Isn't this going to be Chloe's 6th time in black?

Surely the message must be getting through that she is at the bottom of the pack...

I am never fond of the relay concept - as it really doesn't demonstrate relevant skills to my mind. Hopefully it will lead to an interesting pressure test.

And no more parfaits....

I agree - the thing about conspiracy theories is they assume that the people running the show are super brains, to get away without it leaking out for years. Not to be caught out 'fixing' things for eight years, or even have a sniff of it, is beyond befief to me - of the hundreds of people working on the show plus the number of contestants, a disgruntled ex employee or failed contestant would have blown the whistle by now.

And as you say, they're bound to have favourites, they spend a lot of time with these people, they know who really knows what they're doing and who has a passion for cooking and really wants to take it further. That might not come across to us, the contestants aren't professional TV personalities and not everything be has a pleasant personality. Doesn't mean they're not the best cooks. Although ... Brett to go soon!

Andy was one of the weakest winners, imo, but the problem with any cooking programme is that in the end that we have nothing to go on but the judges comments, we have no clue what any of it tastes like. And if I didn't trust the judges to choose someone who had the ability and desire to make it work after the show I doubt I'd bother watching - constructed reality isn't for me.

I kind of agree, it is a bit of a gimmick, more of a party game - Chinese whispers in food - than a serious competition. But having said that at this stage of the competition the usual mystery box, invention test, pressure test, immunity challenge, group challenge, elimination cycle can get a little bit samey, so any variety they can chuck in is probably a good thing, and the relay generally makes for good TV when someone goes rogue

I'm always surprised though that the next person always runs in and they get shown lots of individual elements at breakneck speed but they don't always ask/get told WHAT THE DISH IS. They just know its a bunch of stuff that may or may not be cooking already. If notihng else, ensure you tell them what the dish is FIRST, and even if you run out of time subsequently describing all the components of that, you've at least got the main thing across. Although it won't stop the Brett's of the world ignoring that!

Same and I threw in 'ice-cream' as well to cover all the bases!

saying that harry had a similar look when the pirate started making pastry last night
