What? Where did the ice cream come from? They always show us if it's a temperature sensitive element going on at the time of judging.

Parfait's are temperature sensitive too, aren't they? And they were all on the plate. They usually either plate ice cream and then presumably either replace at judging or bring it to the table in a churn. It's probably perfectly legit but they should make it clear in the edit.

karmen's dish kinda reminded me of something i tried once

cant remember what show it was on but saw MRJ making donuts on a show once and making flavoured sugars and salts as a coating for the donuts

gave me the idea of a twist on the mediterrean starter of tomato, basil and mozarella

made a tomato "jam", a mozzarella ice cream and then a basil salt to coat the donuts and turned jam donuts and ice cream into a starter

I think it must've teleported onto the plate. Seems as though she should perhaps have left it in the freezer.

Yum.

Served with tweezers I hope. It seems to be the way to serve food now.

Made me realise that I don't actually know the difference between a parfait and an ice cream - assume it's to do with the base custard?

those comments sounded more positive than karmen's i think

not an expert either but isn't it to do with the difference between just setting a parfait where you are meant to churn an ice cream

That's my understanding.

They didn't care for Elise's much, did they?

We have a win/win.

the synchronised gasps looked a bit strange there

Going through Karmen's dishes I think there's only been one main!

Well, that reaction from the other contestants isn't going to help Elise's confidence much

Thanks a bunch guys!

Hi all agree with all the comments re parfait getting silly now and very samey and annoying. Am routing for all the boys yes even Brett as he makes me laugh with his mannerisms and rather twatch him than parfait city !! Also like Ellena a lot . For all who watch with virgin series link just checked and my TiVo was not going to record Tuesdays epiiside so might be worth cheching although it will only be more parfaits with snail porridge !! Heston week !!!

Man, this series is absolutely jumping the shark for me and, no offence to them, but I blame the women.

Even ignoring the teleporting basil icecream, Karmen had to go purely for seeing a pile of veg and having the first thought "dessert". That was probably the final straw for me. There's just been way too many dessert specialists this year going to absolutely ridiculous lengths to avoid cooking anything but a dessert.

And the two parfaits...I mean, come on. We're at 5 parfaits alone for this week, if I'm counting right. It's just gotten beyond stupid. I don't even know what my sign should say any more, -1 DAYS SINCE LAST PARFAIT?

Well done to Trent and Matt for doing great dishes without a parfait or dessert in sight!

Bye Karmen! I have no idea why the contestants were so shocked especially after yesterday's fiasco.

I don't think Elise is ever going home. She is just going to stay there through Series 9 and 10 - maybe forever.

Stuck in a permanent Groundhog Day situation making a parfait out of every ingredient she possibly can until the end of time.

Reminds me so much of Samira series 5 - I swear she has actually appeared in pretty much every series, cooking middle eastern food and refusing hugs from any of the men on the show, preferring a hearty handshake instead

they should do more challenges like we have on MC UK where the contestants need to do 2 courses, either a starter and main or a main and dessert, stop it turning into the battle of the parfaits all the time

The 'refusing hugs' from men was because she's a Muslim. Some ultra-conservative Muslim women won't even shake hands with a man.

I do find it a bit annoying when contestants try and turn everything into their favoured style, but on the other hand you don't ever go to a good restaurant and expect the chef to be offering several nationalities' food, they always specialise, so I don't mind it so much, although they should know they're going to have to be a bit flexible.

The dessert thing, on the other hand, is stupid when you're entering MasterChef. You must know that you're going to have to cook savoury at least half the time, usually more in every series except this one, and it's not as if this dessert-mad lot can't cook savoury, they just go out of their way to avoid it, sometimes to ridiculous extremes.

last night took the biscuit tbh, no pun intended, karmen gets shown herbs and vegetables and her first thought is "i can make a dessert out of those"
