I'm certain that MPW is a nice bloke who means well, but I just can't bear to watch him. I know why he keeps shouting the same thing over and over until someone says YES MARCO, and I understand what he's trying to do when he comes out with his cod philosphy and stories about when he was a young man, but it still annoys the hell out of me and makes him really hard to watch. I ended up turning off last night because it was just too exhausting and irritating to enjoy watching.
I agree that he's much nicer and more well meaning etc etc than Gordon Ramsay. But I don't enjoy watching him. I'd far rather see someone like Shannon Bennett or that bloke who did the snow egg, whose name I've somehow totally forgotten [EDIT: Peter Gilmore?] Or that fabulous lady who's married to another chef who has the same name. Dammit, I can't remember their names! |

I can NOT remember the woman's name! I feel like I'm going mad. I think she was originally Russian or eastern European possibly, and is married to an Australian, and they're both chefs and both have the same first name, and they run a fabulous restaurant somewhere in the countryside. WHO AM I THINKING OF OMG??? Google doesn't want to tell me.

I can't think of who you mean, sorry Elanor - but I did get Peter Gilmore straight away!
Two hours tonight, are we getting a Marco masterclass after elimination? I might give that bit a miss, he'll be cooking cod (philosophy) no doubt

I won't give away the elimination result, but for all you MPW haters, you only need to allocate an hour of your time as there is a Marco love-in following someone getting the boot
For all you MPW lovers - rejoice! There's a whole hour of pure Marco following the elimination

It's Alla Wolf Tasker! I had to work out the long way round in google but I found it. She was a guest judge at one point and I remember really liking her a lot. Her husband's called Allan actually, so I only sort of remembered that bit.

I will be able to get through tonight's in less than an hour courtesy of the fact that I have recorded it while watching MKR (only another three nights to go). I won't be watching the Masterclass and not only because I am not keen on MPW, but also because I don't like the Masterclasses...I watch for the competition and nothing more.

I am still watching last night's episode with the team challenge.
I am surprised no one has mentioned the extremely annoying woman who is incapable of pronouncing the word "jus". She has just said she is really please with the "thick syrupy Jew" she has made. Every time she says the word I wince. Silly girl. |

The problem with MPW is that for some reason he seems to think that the way to challenge the contestants is just to shout at them more. He pretty much said as much in the team challenge, something along the lines of "do you want me to push you, I'll shout at you".

I find it hard to believe the lamb dish was worse than the last minute tuna dish, I think Cynthia just got a buy

Cecilia seems to be a favourite because of her 'story'. She literally stole Harry's ideas - smoked tuna, which I was glad she over cooked and then at the last minute a mayonnaise! Honestly this show is becoming more and more 'manufactured' by the producers. I'd love to know what the Aussies think but it's too risky to try and find out 😱. I think the voice-overs and chats to camera are scripted and so often false to create drama. One contestant last week had a very mucky apron when cooking but a very clean one when making comments, it just looked so unrealistic.
Basically I'm disappointed because AMC is my favourite show and I so want it to be 'real' as compared to the USA version which is just a complete sham IMO and MKR which is going the same way. Just needed to get that off my chest - will still keep watching of course 😜 |

Just needed to get that off my chest - will still keep watching of course 😜 I'm not sure we get more of their 'story' these days, in fact I think it could be a bit less - in the earlier series we spent quite a lot of time at the house the contestants shared and we always saw them waiting to see who was coming back after an elimination. Then we'd see the eliminated contestant arrive home. There's none of that now. I see MCA as a halfway house between our short low key style and the circus of MC USA, which isn't so much a cooking competition, since most of them can only just about cook an egg, as a showcase for Ramsay. I could certainly do without the storyline created for all the contestants but it's still the best of the MC bunch for me. Although I do wish a channel would pick up some other countries' MCs, like Watch used to. Particularly the South African one. |

Real shame if true as SA was starting to hit its stride and find some really good cooks and NZ was also getting a higher standard of contestant but went a bit off the rails with the last pairs format.

I was surprised the judges didn't pull Con up about having very little marmalade in his marmalade-inspired invention test, he said it himself there wasn't much in it and although the judges cooed over all the flavours, there wasn't any mention of the marmalade itself.

Even worse is when they 'predict' stuff in voice overs. For example Matt in his voice over said that he might get pulled up about his squid needing something creamy and sure enough the judges said his squid needed something creamy. |

I really dislike the voice overs and how they say everything in the present.

You could absolutely tell who were going to be the saints and sinners due to the editing, but I guess that's because there's still so many of them! Was nice to have a brother/sister free episode with some of the lesser featured cooks coming to the fore |

Poor Olivia has mucked up a little bit forgetting the matcha balls in the freezer. That looks like a very complicated dish though I imagine it would taste amazing.

Got to say I warmed very quickly to Anastasia in Monday's episode. Huge smile on her face and very polite.
