i think mimi missed the point of the brief a little

they weren't meant to follow the recipe to the letter just do a dish inspired by it, so all she needed was a rough idea of the dish the recipe was for
Well Harry lucked out and he hasn't got his own Jonathan (Brett) to screw it up for him this time!

So chuffed for him, but he literally read one line of the recipe and then went for it! I hope there was nothing on there at the end with a curve ball thrown in "and adde ye olde oyster forsooth"

Fingers crossed he's able to get away with it.

Also, not sure I am happy about Mimi's assumption that everyone British loves mushy peas (partly because I just remember the smell of them from when I worked in a chippy and the smell always made me gag).

ETA: Looks like the golden girl is in trouble, perhaps she'll end up going into elimination after tonight's if only because her time management left a lot to be desired when she was working alone!

Delighted for Mimi but surely, surely Theresa is in deep deep doo doo.

Of course I'm incredibly happy for Elise (no, I'm not really) but will Harry come unstuck with his need to Heston things up?

At one point I did wonder if he was going to try that not chocolate and red wine thing for a third time!

I can't see how that was ever going to work - the idea of those flavours combined is a little bit stomach curdling.

Theresa's time has (possibly) run out. Wonder what the elimination challenge will be tomorrow (I am looking forward to it).

big field for the elimination tomorrow with 7 people in it so even tho you would hope brett is favourite to go home he could get lucky

That is Theresa's biggest issue. Time. She can cook but put her under a serious time pressure and she cracks.

Does it have to be 'blue' food? Or could it be a play on the word blue - so steak tartare (which is in effect 'blue') or blueberry tart...

That's what I'm hoping Raye, or blue swimmer crab or that fish they call blue eyed travella?

My knee jerk reaction though is that he's buggered!

I was thinking "what a stereotype" when she said that. I'm British and I can't stand mushy peas. I do like garden peas but that's beside the point.

On the colour theme, if blue is so bad then what about violet?

Yes, I think I'd be nipping to the local sweet shop to buy packets of Parma Violets and just chuck them into a bowl and serve with some whipped cream.

What's not to love?

On a separate note, I really liked the look of that fennel and apple dome thing (whatever you want to call it). I'd quite like to try something like that.

Violet could be quite easy - shade of purple so lavender, aubergine, plums, purple sprouting broccoli, purple potatoes, purple carrots, figs...

It amused me when she said that Heston was English and he would like it, as Gary and Matt are also English, but they seem to have forgotten that lol...Mind you, Gary and Matt also seem to have forgotten it, with their "Australian" accents

No one ever gets mushy peas right in the overseas MCs! It's not mashed frozen or fresh peas, it's made with green split peas. It's more like pease pudding than mashed green peas. I used to think I didn't like it until I made it from scratch once and found it's actually OK!

Just caught up - I was worried for Harry, I thought he'd made a mistake ignoring all the ingredients and just using the recipe title. Theresa started to slip back into faffing so no surprise she ended up in the mass elimination.

I really can't take to Elise, still..

I have everything crossed that there's no shock exit for Matt tonight. Blueberries are all I can think of - I hope there are blue swimmer crab for him or he comes up with something good enough that meets the brief.
