We've had that VT from Mimi twice in less than 30 minutes.

The production team always seem to play to the lowest common denominator - presumably they think we're all sitting watching thinking 'Oh no, X is going home - but wait, Y's gone wrong too and they might be going home. But wait, now X might be going home. Who is it?!!!!??? I'm on the edge of my seat.'

When actually we've turned it into a virtual drinking game and are quite good at spotting misdirection and who's really screwed up and us likely to go.

Finally pretty much caught up with Masterchef (all but one episode)!

Mimi is one of my favourite contestants - she's done really well so far

i dont mind all the misdirections and stuff, it does make the show a little more interesting but its the use of the exact same thing over and over and over again that gets a bit tiresome

Misdirection has potential to make it a little bit more exciting, but it's so predictable when it comes to them. We know that they're doing it because it always uses the same method, which is unfortunate.

Well, they've got me thoroughly worked out then, because that's exactly how I am when a contestant I like is in an elimination (in this case it was Mimi). I spend the episode nervously hoping everything goes well for that contestant, or, if it doesn't, that someone else screws up even more.

Either you're too trusting or we're too cynical - it's the same on MKR, there tends to be a pattern. The one who gets most of the airtime and is shown screwing up triumphs over adversity. It's not 100% but it's a pretty safe bet. Of course, I don't know if we see as much as you do - ours are very heavily edited to squeeze into the around 42 minutes you get out of an hour slot on a commercial channel. It could well be less obvious in a longer time slot.

I bet we are going to see more parfait shards over the coming week. They won't be able to stop themselves.

I thought the inside of those lamingtons looked awful. A mush of soft sponge, jam, ganache and coconut cream with some soft ice cream. It really didn't work as a concept for me. Layers, elegance, texture, something crisp - all the things they normally demand completely absent!

So they had to make a big sponge cake just to use 8 chunks of it?! What a waste!

I've not really got a contestant who I can't stand this season. Usually I do and I sit and watch each elimination hoping they go. These guys to me are fairly bland. It's what they keep cooking that I'm finding highly irritating!!

I really like Masterchef Australia, I much prefer it to our Masterchef which I don't bother watching.

It always makes me laugh the way that Matt Preston is eyeing up the food, like he hasn't eaten for a week! It's like give me the food, give me the food now!

At this stage I would quite like one of Elena, Elise or Harry to win but may change my mind as it goes on.

I can't believe that Brett is 43, seriously he looks older than my dad and he is 64! I can't believe that Matt (the contestant) has a wife, I thought he bat for the other side, obviously nothing wrong in that which I'd like to point out.

Haven't seen tonight's episode yet but have to agree with what someone else mentioned, although I like Elise, I did think in yesterday's episode why have you got such a massive plate for such a small amount of food!

The manipulation of MKR is certainly easy to see through. I've been critical of its too-obvious, clumsy misdirection for years. It plays the same trick on the viewers nearly every episode and expects them to keep falling for it. However, in MCA it's not always so obvious. Whatever manipulation or "miraculous" recoveries there are, whoever ends up going home still has to make a mistake, or the decision wouldn't make sense, so any mistake by a favourite is a reason to worry.

I don't understand why Watch is cutting the episodes. Every week five of its top 7 or 8 rating shows are the five MCA episodes, so you would think they'd want to show them in full to take advantage of that.

And we are only getting 55 minutes tonight?

We still get at least 5.5 hours of MCA each week. Which is a lot of one show to keep up with.

But it's not 5.5 hours once you take off the intro and adverts and any other bits that need ff-ing through. And then they cut it for a nine year old show like they're doing tonight. It must be one of their most popular programmes or it wouldn't have a prime time slot and a repeat. I can't imagine why they're playing fast and loose with it this series.

Each episode of 1 hour is actually, on average, 42 minutes, and the 90-minute episode is actually around 65, so we get just under 4 hours of programme, so much is cut and then they edit even further (how do they decide what to edit out on this end to make sure the programme still shows the right sympathies, or are we missing out on a lot that we shouldn't that could have made Karmen more human or Elise less smug?
