carmen is my first "dislike" of the series, got sick of her saying that she is "well known" for her desserts the last couple of days
also think its immensely unfair when a contestant decides to just not spend time on an element and focus on the others whereas the person who went out made a couple of mistakes because of running out of time, if she had made that same decision she might not have made the mistakes she did |

Whatever you do folks, don't go near google.
![]() I wanted to find out more about the judges (esp the large one with a penchant for flashy clothes and the short one with the terrible table manners.) In the very first item on the results page, having typed in Masterchef Australia Judges, I read the name of the 2016 winner. ![]() ![]() I'm still none the wiser about the judges as I closed the window immediately. |

The food critic with the penchant for the flashy clothes is Matt Preston, then there's little George Calombaris, and Gary Mehigan. If you put their names in separately you get their Wiki page information
I was just glad I remembered Matt and Gary's full names ![]()

I don't think that's unfair at all. A large part of competitive cooking (or any competition) is being able to make good decisions under pressure.
i agree if they are making their own creation and screw up an element to just not serve it but that wasn't what they were doing last night |

So...this year is the year of "desserts/savouries play to my strengths"
Must have heard it a dozen times this week already

And don't get me started on those tall bulbous glasses that they insist on using for desserts - they look nigh on impossible to eat out of!

Absolutely no problem. I have been the victim of spoilers that ruined something because I looked up something unrelated to the search result before now...it's so irritating. Why is it that they think everyone wants to know one particular thing when looking up something else entirely?

Thanks for this as well. I wanted to know the judges names too. But not wanting to find out the winner, didn't want to Google.

Genuinely impressed how close the red team got to those restaurant dishes despite the limitations of the challenge - a lot of detail to take in and then almost no time to explain the dishes.
I was watching it thinking "this must be a bit too difficult a challenge", but apparently not -good effort! |

Matt the coffee roaster is quite a strong contestant in these early days, he was a good leader in today's challenge. Also us it just me or does Con look like he is about to burst into tears?!!

There's a nasty bug in Google. It used to be that you could exclude certain words with '-' to make spoilers less likely
(e.g., -winner would give you no pages containing that word). I was going to suggest that for those who are determined to take a chance, but I just tried this to test it (note - there are no spoilers below): Masterchef Australia -winner And the first result I got was: MasterChef Australia/Latest winner followed by the winner's name in large letters, and a photo for good measure! Since it can't be trusted to follow explicit instructions I suggest just staying away from it till the series is over. |

I really enjoyed this team challenge. But there is a Billie look a likey contestant, who is she and gave we actually heard her speak yet?!

The biggest irritant for me so far is Karmen, she exudes 'poor me'. But she might Buck her ideas up, Cecilia seems to have done it and found her feet. Con's an odd duck - he does always look tearful. Maybe he has allergies! |

Mat seems to be the whole package - he'll probably be one of 'shock' eliminations at some stage but I should think he's already done himself a world of good if he's looking for a career in the industry.

Still not warmed to Jimmy - want him and his smug smirk to go away.
That team challenge looked decidedly hard, expecting them to not only remember the recipes and the quantities but then reproduce them with the original meal as a comparison. I can't believe that Con had never had popcorn before - or was that maybe just something to say to make it sound as though he was more sophisticated? |

I am loving Matt the coffee roaster
This is a general question not just specific to this series, but how do the contestants cook so much creative food? I am really impressed that they are home cooks. Their food looks so good. |

Is Matt the one with the earrings? I like him too.
Wow though, that scallop/cucumber/flower thing looked SO pretty! |
