An award fit for The Pirate at last!
I'm going to think of Captain Pugwash every time he's on camera now.

Not to mention the well known cabin boy.

To be fair to Elise - she did poach a chicken breast in the water bath a couple of days ago.

But her sense of entitlement is what gets me - not the overwhelming number of iced desserts that she puts up.
Sense of entitlement?

The amount of negative comment almost every attractive female contestant is guaranteed to get each year never fails to always amuse me. It always happens.

Does she deserve to win? Of course not and I can't imagine she will. But for goodness sake, the current reaction to her on this thread is way out of proportion to her behaviour. I can't remember one single thing she has done or said that she deserves to be called out for.

Nothing to do with her being female - I think most of the comments like Elena, didn't mind or liked Mimi and Heather, all of whom are attractive young or fairly young women. And nobody seems to have taken to the Pirate, who is hardly an attractive young female. It's the appearance of smugness and expecting to do well that irritates me and I think a lot of other people. She shares that with Brett. Most of us couldn't take Jimmy. Really not an attractive young female. They might be lovely people who are kind to butterflies and small children but they've chosen to put themselves out there on a reality show and as such people watching are going to have a bit of fun with the way they present themselves. We can only judge on what they show to the camera. You don't have to agree but, for goodness sake, one thing it isn't is sexist. I think we're pretty even handed in our mocking and most of the thread is very lighthearted.

Or it was.

Well, that put a downer on things!

I'd like to apologise now for my comments about Noelene a few seasons back, what a stunner!

Aah, auction time. The Grim Weeper to squeeze out a few when she doesn't get her preferred ingredients?

Bags of time. She could hollow out the middle. And do soil too, for a change.

ETA: she never learns, does she? It's always 'I've done it before only not with these ingredients and completely differently'. Maybe this'll be the time it really comes back to bite her.

Shocker she's making a dessert. I am impressed that Elena is going with a fish course and Matt always impresses, though he worried me a little bit with his "maybe I could bid 25mins on the herbs..."

That said, Matt P's comments to Matt about his sauce, I hope he doesn't go out tonight.

As for the comments about attractive, it depends on what you consider attractive, I have no issues with Elena, Mimi or Heather, but there is something about Chloe and Elise, Chloe with her tears and Elise, there is something about her character that doesn't appeal to me. I am equal opportunities, don't like Brett, didn't much like Charlie and certainly didn't like Jimmy - he was the first person I wanted so badly to get eliminated. These people know what they are in for when they enter a competition like this.

She's said that as many times as the one who now cannot be named has said that she'll play to her strengths!

Damn shame that there's no chocolate so she can make a shell that can be dropped from a great height

It's kind of too close to call at the moment, can't compute that Matt won't save his sauce

I like to think that we were shown that as misdirection and he's going to come through with flying colours. I think he and Elena are the best cooks in this elimination, with Mimi not far behind. Chloe is far too limited, all her desserts are so samey, she's really not learning anything so she might as well go off and do whatever her 'food dream' is. But of course being the best cook doesn't necessarily win!

Methinks that Chloe is in trouble when the judges are asking her to clarify what the central element of dessert 2500 is.

My prediction - Elena and Mimi safe, elimination between Matt and Chloe, Chloe goes home because at least Matt knew what he'd made and cooked the elements of it well.

I think you're right, though, with words like "absolute disaster" being bandied around Chloe's in SERIOUS trouble. Might we be seeing the end of her this evening?

With one last sob, she'll be leaving tonight.

I am trying not to celebrate, but on the night she really was the worst of the quartet.

Absolutely. They might say she progressed, but unless my memory has completely gone I'd say that was all at the beginning - for the last three or four weeks she's been doing pretty much the same thing in different flavours and ignoring advice.

The Pirate and the Princess out next, please, then we're good!

The pretty hard edit at the start meant more time for teary Chloe at the end...

I did like the comment about getting all negative about the attractive women. I don't think it's negative to say that many of the women on this year's show have been very one-dimensional in their cooking and have been careful to stay within a very narrow set of skills, i.e. dessert. I have to say, sorry, it's pretty blatant about how they've been ducking doing anything else. It's great that they do desserts really well. I've no truck with that. I just want to see them do something else...

Maybe it is a flaw of the format. But the length of the series and the sheer amount of cooking they have to do has shown up quite a few of them because the pattern becomes obvious very quickly.

It's clear that doesn't apply to everyone. Elena has been extremely impressive even before tonight's episode, because she has shown the ability to deal with a far wider range of skills than just putting up endless mousses/curds/crumbs. That's why I'm far more disposed to her getting through than Chloe and Elise, to name a couple.

And I'm all caught up! The right result without a doubt

The red herring regarding Matts sauce had me worried momentarily, Elena's actual red herring had me worried not a jot

My top 3 of Matt, Harry and Elena remain intact

cant argue with chloe going, i think she has been the weakest by far of the 4 that were cooking tonight and has been pretty lucky to get this far

she had the most time of the 4 tonight but still managed to screw up the 2 main elements of her dish

and as per my post above just bidding on a tray of root vegetables when she was planning on making a dessert should have sent her home straight away for stupidity

Considering that Gary (or was it George?) suggested the mousse wouldn't set, I'm surprised Chloe didn't just do an ice cream.

I'm not surprised she's gone.
