Holy moly Elise did a savoury (after already doing a dessert). Nearly died o' shock. I thought it was staggering that the judges basically went "well you don't really do this sort of thing normally"...it's nearly finals week!

The crowd certainly thinned out by the end of the invention test didn't it! They were certainly out there a long time.

The folk who brought all the fish must've been a bit miffed that they brought it all for them to just go for the beef...

The main thing I remember about this episode was how dark it was at the end after (I think) starting the challenge in bright sunshine.

So I was away last week and have just finished catching up - I've scanned the thread briefly but I still don't know:

- What was Trent and Elise's special advantage for winning the team challenge?
- How did they suddenly end up in California without even mentioning it in a previous episode?

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the previous episode, at least as aired in Australia.

Yes, the prize was flying business class.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't mentioned in what we saw - we don't get any teasers for the next show any more, just a cut off when the winner or loser is announced, with occasionally a closing shot of George saying 'go home and get some rest, you're going to need it'. The only way we know what's going to happen next is by looking at the EPG and I discovered last year that that's a mistake as whoever writes them almost always puts the remaining contestants' names in.

Yes W's famous MCA edits not exactly helping the continuity with last night's show...

Thanks guys - at least I know now. My kids watch MCA online - maybe I'll start doing that next series!

I have everything crossed he goes very soon - that grin when he gets praised for yet another meat, veg, smoked item and pickle is beginning to raise my blood pressure.

I am into the Beach-pop up resties... It must be getting to the stage where people just dread being with Brett - when he stuffed up on the cinema challenge - honestly how they won was a sheer fluke.

I am nodding and smiling.

Yes we didn't get the news at the end of Chloe's elimination that they were going to California and that Trent and Elise were flying business class. We got that news before the titles in Monday's episode. So they butchered it out of Friday's ep but gave us a bit in Monday's so it at least made sense...

Ah, that explains why I didn't see it - I fast forward until the titles are over. I always assume anything before is recap. Which it would be if W didn't bin chunks.

Yeah I thought that was quite a nice surprise for winning the team challenge!

As opposed to the many other 'advantages' that people win... getting to choose one ingredient woo

I do think that we are missing out on quite a lot of possibly "important later on" bits. The first we knew about San Francisco and "flying business class" was when it was shown on Monday night as a "last week" previous thing. Why are they trying to shoehorn it in to a single 1-hour slot when the programmes they air before it are repeats?

Also, just to note that it's on at 8 every evening this week.

I suppose they have to make room for 10-year-old Supernannys and Extreme Makeover Home Editions. /sarcastic emoji/

I imagine the previous early start on Weds was because of Bake Off starting at 8. No need any more.

I really like Harry, but my top two by a country mile are Elena and Matt, who just seem to have totally embraced everthing, and seem to really understand what they're doing.

Definitely. Am I missing something or has Brett vanished?

I'm definitely Elena, Matt and Harry for the final three now - I've been in two minds about Mimi but I'm feeling she lacks a bit of spark.

And I think I want Elena and Matt for the final. Sorry, 'finale'.

He's there. He's the one completely out of his depth.
