The guest chef just stated she came up with it for the final six so it was specially created for this Pressure Test. Not sure what I think about that.

So, what do we think so far. Mimi safe, elimination between Matt and Trent with Trent going? I can't think that even if Matt's curd is too runny he's made as many mistakes as Trent has.

Ooh, Trent working in the Press Cafe - that must be part of George's Press Club, surely?

Nice looking dessert. But fundamentally they ran out of room for "increasingly insane dessert pressure tests with lots of fiddly elements" a while back, so I didn't really feel more or less impressed than usual that they all did it.
Ironically I thought the most interesting aspect was how they coped with the bits they didn't have and having to improvise the chocolate lattices/spheres etc. Trent's brownie looked a bit grim, I have to say. |

I agree, I commented halfway through this episode how ridiculous it was. The process is flawed, how can someone who cooks the same thing over and over again not get picked up on it? And end up in the final five! It's a travesty. I still think Elise should have been on this elimination challenge.

Welcome dotti - what are your thoughts on the remaining contestants ?
I thought Matt was the strongest, until his latest brainfarts. I'd happily eat any of his food. Won't he be wasted on a food truck? Elena and Harry are both coming through strongly. I lean towards Elena as I'm not so keen on seafood, and Harry seems to have a liking for this. Mimi's latest dish was raved over, but (IIRC) she just got the balance wrong which put her in the bottom three, where she looked defeated. If she pulls it out, she could be in the final three. I don't think the judges see her as such though. Elise looks to be the weakest, but as long as she's allowed to do desserts, she'll stay. I really liked Theresa - so much I've based one of my characters on her - but she was a disaster waiting to happen. I found it quite annoying that so many floated around the middle of the pack for so long and there's not really any reward for being 'nearly there' so many times. When she was top of the first two Heston challenges, she went out the same week. I find the level astounding. Oz contestants would have been torn apart if they hadn't been able to do a ceviche or cook a decent chop, like the MC Pros couldn't tonight. |

So, the final is on Wednesday. Can't record it because I'm recording other stuff and the football's on. Will have to record it Thursday morning and avoid this thread until I've seen it.
Not surprised that Trent has gone. |

was it just me that thought the blue chocolate sphere just looked wrong on top of that cake and it looked far better with the "lacey" chocolate ones
obviously trent had to go based on execution of the cake itself but based on look alone i really didn't like Matt's |

I've just made the mistake of setting it to record the final on Thursday morning, which means I know who the final two are. (Virgin tells you under the info who it stars) Didn't really want to know!

She'd probably caramelise it and serve it with candied vegetables and a vanilla jus.
