Understood, but they enjoyed all the other elements of Mimi's dish - it was just the ricotta that tipped the balance. If only she had not plated it. Although that may have resulted in Harry being sent home, which would have been a real pity.
Just hope that if Elise scrapes it into the final, there are no desserts in the final! She needs to show she can cook other things well! I'm gobsmacked how popular parfait shave been this year! |

to me the final should always be serving up a three course menu of their own food with no restrictions
that would show they can cope with more than just their comfort zone and also how they balance each course iirc the final itself usually covers three challenges and they get a score from each judge for each challenge |

Brownies aren't meant to be cooked through, it's that gooey consistency in the middle that determines the difference between a cake and a brownie. I couldn't believe a contestant even considered something as simple as a brownie would be a suitable dish for get them into the semifinal of a major cooking competition, but then I clearly know nothing.

Still, it's better than the earlier ones, some of those finals ended up being stupidly one-sided because of the odd scoring system way back when. |

Blimey, what's with Matt's weird leather apron? He looks like a serial killer.

Nice to see (some) of the old contestants, however they only talked to Con, Zoe and Nicolette about what they're up to (Con opening restaurant in October , Zoe and Nicolette working in kitchens )

Didn't we find out what some of the others were doing when Theresa won her return?
This'll be interesting. |

I know it's terribly kitsch and silly but I do enjoy when the tables are turned in finals week 😄

not really into the sort of "poncey" food george does but the way he thinks about food and plating does fascinate me a bit

is it the last 4 or the last 3 they do the service challenge in the masterchef kitchen where they all have to do their own menus for an invited group ?

UK masterchef final ends with a three course menu right? I still think I prefer that ![]() Quote:
Seemed a bit rich to call Harry's idea a bit "week three" when Elise has been chucking up the same mousses/icecreams etc. forever.
thank goodness he made it through!Elise is starting to remind me a little of Georgia from last year? Although I don't understand why she cooked savoury as her audition dish when her dream was a cake shop? Did she cook lamb before? I would have liked to see a lamb dish

![]() I felt sorry for Harry during that episode, it seemed every time the judges were picking on him thank goodness he made it through!Elise is starting to remind me a little of Georgia from last year? actually being nice to eat is more important than technique imo
you wont survive long in the food industry making stuff that doesn't taste very nice no matter how well made it is Whilst I understand the concept of presentation from a restaurant perspective, at the end of the day the customer is going to destroy it with their cutlery so does it really make that much difference? (yes, for e.g. if the purpose is to break open the chocolate shell to reveal some salted caramel fondant or whatever but for a plate of chicken, pasta and vegetables? Not really!!! ).
