Maybe the pirate has gone back to being a pirate? I felt sorry for him a bit as he obviously still has to bring in the bacon for his family whereas all the other contestants appear to be carrying on with their 'dream'!
Can someone tell me what Elise is doing now as W decided to cut the last episode short (why does that happen?). Think I'll have to record the follow on programmes for the next two nights in order to cover all bases or watch it live - that would be a shocker for me as I never watch anything live 😁 |

It was really tight on time last night, wasn't it? I imagine they wanted to show as much of the cook as possible so sacrificed the update. Or she isn't doing anything!

I've been waiting for weeks for you to get to that episode, knowing that the other contestants were thinking exactly the same as people here about Elise's parfaits, and finally said so.
Anyway I agree Matt, Elena and Harry are the most talented and the most deserving to be in the final but this series, for me, has been a bit meh, too many desserts makes for boring viewing. Maybe the solution is, especially in the mystery box, the min no of ingredients used should be 3 or something. I long for the days when the contestants couldnt make Rissotto!!!

Can't believe that 2 of my faves (Matt and Harry) made the final or should I say 'Grand Finarlee'
![]() I can honestly say that I don't mind who wins although I'd put Matt and Elena slightly ahead of Harry skillswise. Elena suddenly came out of nowhere with some stunning dishes (Heston week is when she seemed to pull away from the pack) and is able to raise her game when the pressure's on. I think she's the one to beat and the boys are gonna have to bring their A-Game

GibsonGirl, I've been following MCA and MKR threads here for years and it's normal for contestants' attitudes and behaviour to be brought up, positively and negatively, and there's a variety of colourful ways people do that. I'm not sure what's happened here to make negative comments unacceptable all of a sudden when they aren't anywhere else on the internet. Have you read the comments about Lauren in the MKR thread?
And I can't believe anyone would complain about the use of "pirate". That was funny when it first came up and has only been used in good humour since. I have liked all the contestants this year and none of them deserve the kind of treatment they have been getting here. I have never watched My Kitchen Rules and haven't a clue who Lauren is, but I might have a look at the thread to compare it to this one. Was she in the UK or Australian version? Quote:
Every time I see him I want to punch him in his smug face. There's something about the way he smirks so smugly that makes me wish he'd been eliminated at about the same time as Jimmy Oxygen-overdoser.

And set it in a sphere of jelly!
Brett, yes, him or Karmen. We are doing quite well, does someone on the thread have a voodoo doll? |

So how can you condone comments like the ones below? There is nothing humorous about using physical violence, saying that someone is a waste of oxygen or about using a voodoo doll on someone. I know that other members on DS can become extremely nasty and I think they should be booted off the site as they seem to take great delight in being horrible (I'm not necessarily referring to the members who contribute to this thread, but in general). This thread though is about a show that prides itself in not having bitching contestants (although I did hear about one season that had contestants fighting with each other but they were threatened with elimination if they continued), that has got judges that genuinely care about them and that for the most part is all about friendship as well as cooking. It does not sit well with me when people will make not very pleasant remarks about contestants who come over well and who seem like really nice people. As for calling Brett a 'pirate'. That is a more benign comment, but to keep calling him that instead of his name is a bit tedious and tiresome.

I have never watched My Kitchen Rules and haven't a clue who Lauren is, but I might have a look at the thread to compare it to this one. Was she in the UK or Australian version? Yes, opinions can certainly be pretty robust if a particular contestant isn't liked but it's absolutely done in jest and not to offend. I've seen many questionable posts made on this forum over the years (some of them by me as it goes ) but in this thread? No, not IMO

OK, I'm sure I'm going to get shot down in flames by some for trying to tell them what they should post and I expect I'll be told that 'it's an Internet forum and we can say what we like where we like, thanks very much' but I wonder if the discussion about what people do and don't find acceptable could be taken to a new thread somewhere so this one can get back to being easy going and one where people have up until recently managed to agree to disagree. Maybe if you find a particular poster objectionable you could block them, just for two nights. No one ever changed from being criticised or attacked on an Internet forum so it's just going to go round in circles.
It's an interesting topic and one worthy of proper discussion rather than sniping in the middle of jokes about parfait and smoked everything and comments on the actual competition. I'm expecting Harry to go tonight - he's developed in leaps and bounds but not quite to the level of the other two, I don't think. And It turns out I'd prefer Elena to win, I wasn't sure I minded either way but it seems I do! Both she and Matt deserve it though and I'm glad it's this close at the end because I agree, it's been a bit of a lack lustre series until the end. I really hope George isn't running the pass tonight, though. The 'yeah?' every few seconds and the newly developed MPW impersonation will be a strain without alcohol if he is. |

I also think you are using deflection by saying that comments about this thread should be taken to a new thread and that the blocking option should be used. Is that so that some of you can blissfully continue with your not so nice comments and tell yourselves that they are just 'in good humour'? |

It's not just "jokes about parfait and smoked everything". It's 'jokes' about punching contestants, using voodoo dolls on them, calling them 'bitch face', etc. Those kind of comments have brought the thread down to gutter level. Would you like to have someone 'joke' on the internet or anywhere else about punching you or using a voodoo doll on you or a member of your family? I suspect not, so why do you think it's okay to 'joke' in the same way about the contestants on this show?
I also think you are using deflection by saying that comments about this thread should be taken to a new thread and that the blocking option should be used. Is that so that some of you can blissfully continue with your not so nice comments and tell yourselves that they are just 'in good humour'? And I defy you to find a post of mine where I've accused anyone of being bitchy - it happens to be a word I'd never use to describe another woman, as it's so often associated with men trying to shut women down or belittle them. Nor will you find any post of mine 'threatening' violence. You will find me talking about how someone comes across or how they seem to me because that's how they're presenting themselves - I'm not even saying that's what they're like and I doubt anyone is, because we can't know one way or another. I'm saying that's how they're coming across, which I think in the end is what everyone is saying, which is why they feel free to be colourful in their language. So I'm quite happy with saying I found Elise smug as for most of her cooks she was absolutely sure she'd 'smashed it', didn't take advice, didn't appear to be able to identify any mistakes until after the judging and apparently once she'd switched to dessert was convinced she had perfected it and didn't appear to learn anything. Thats how it looked to me and a number of others. Could be right, could be wrong. No idea. Nor does anyone who thinks the opposite unless they know the person. So I have no axe to grind with my suggestion, I'm guilty only of expressing my opinion and of poking fun at people who have chosen to put themselves on an extremely popular reality television show in the hope of winning loads of dosh and getting their 15 minutes of fame. Mea culpa. Don't care. I just find it a pity to reduce an interesting topic to a bad tempered tit-for-tatting exercise. |

*No terms and conditions have been harmed in the making of this thread
I will admit to using "resting bitch face" as a description of Elise - it's a well known term and I offer no apologies I am not about to purchase a plane ticket to Australia to seek out and assault any of the contestants. cika, your comments regarding blocking users were very useful. |

Why are people justifying themselves (Cika, BBAnne et al)?! There's no need! The explanations above about why things have been said, have been said further up the thread- some posters don't like what others have written fair enough they've had their say and now need to move on instead hammering the point home. There's only one episode left let's just enjoy it! Idont post very often but I like this thread because I find it funny, informative and I love the fact that there are posters(like triton) who also post on here despite having seen the show months before. I don't want it to get to a point where it is locked because of arguments!
There endeth the lecture!

There endeth the lecture! ![]() But there's two episodes left I think ![]() I will be distraught after tomorrow night and will be seeking some help through the difficult times...W do usually repeat a recent series to help. I'm hoping for series 7 as apart from the winner and the disastrous relay round, I remember very little! It also might be fun to watch series 5 was it, the one with Emma Dean, that lot could barely boil an egg! |

I would love to watch last year's one again, best one in my humble opinion. |

I don't mind googling, because I know who wins. Elise has a facebook page full of giant fancy cakes, but no link to any shop of any kind, so whether she's selling them or not, I can't tell.

![]() I don't remember her making desserts in the earlier weeks but in the episode last night she was talking about her passion for them and that she's going to open a shop. Then there's Matt, who didn't much like doing desserts then smashed it when they were at Alla Wolf-Tasker's place. I don't mind who wins but I think Elena's so strong under pressure that she will probably win it, followed by Matt as runner-up and Harry 3rd. She 'looks' like a good winner on paper too - she's had the journey and everything whereas Matt was pretty damned good from the get-go. Having said all that, the 3 of them would out-cook most of the contestants on Masterchef the Professionals. |

As the eliminated contestants have been hanging around since the masterclass for no obvious reason than to make nuisances of themselves on the gantry, do you think they'll be picking some to be their brigade for the service challenge? I think they've done that before and it could throw a spanner into the works.
![]() Guess they're just there for added atmosphere then |
