A little disappointed that the final decision came down to copying someone else's dish rather than creating their own.

![]() I was rooting for Matt all along, but it's impossible to begrudge Elena who came seemingly out of nowhere with some stunning food and a great attitude to go with it. |

It's always been one of my fee bugbears about Masterchef Aus. After all the weeks, the challenges, the learning and experience, the final decision still comes down to making someone else's recipe instead of putting all their new skills to the test. A copy is always going play to one person's strength (pastry, savoury etc) and there's little room for an inventive plan b if something goes wrong.

Really enjoyed the finale, really thought Matt had it in the bag until he didn't seal his egg
... that's it until next year... it's been a pleasure watching an all new season with you and I hope next year I don't hear the word Parfait!!!! ![]() Is there another Masterchef on soon? (Any location) |

I think Elena was a very worthy winner. So lovely to see her helping Matt at the end - he was looking seriously stressed!!
Mind you, having said that, I knew from very early on in the series that Matt was a popular contestant and that he went far - my niece lives in Brisbane and both her mum & dad and myself have loved Aus Masterchef from series 1. Every year we remind her not to let anything slip in conversations with us etc. However this year she posted a picture weeks ago of Matt's food bus on Facebook and how excited everyone was in Brisbane 😱. Now that was a big flag-up in my book so I'll be having a stern word with her. Ha! Ha! So much more enjoyable that US version and no comparison to UK version IMO. Roll on series 9. |

It was the best final since MCA started, I think - they were well matched and first rate cooks who'd been willing to learn and work their socks off through the whole competition. |

So he stuck to his food bus guns! I wonder if he'll ever go into restaurant work - perhaps he just doesn't want to work for someone else.

I think Matt is too good a chef to just work in a food bus, but I suppose it is a good start. He should be aiming for the Wahaca model if he wants to earn the big bucks.

I wa hoping they'd create their own dish too.
- under extreme pressure. A few years ago they did a Champion of Champions series with winners and contestants from the first few years meeting for charity. There wouldn't be much point dong it for the last few years! |

I only started watching this a short while ago and I can't believe how good it is!! Far better than the British version IMO. The Australian version is very positive and the judges are very supportive and encouraging. The talent is infinitely better too.
Our version is so cynical and negative in comparison. I love the way the Australian contestants encourage and support each other too. I'll miss watching this series. When does the 2017 one start?

I much prefer MCA as it's a much warmer "light entertainment" approach to the show.
Whereas MCUK is a bit like going to detention when all your mates are walking out of the school gates. It's more too strict/stubborn/formal for me to really get into. Still, MC Canada is the worst one. Everything is pompous and on a high horse. It's like watching a bloody pantomime. ![]() As for last night's final, Alena and Matt were definitely the strongest two contestants to go all the way. Matt showed more promise early on and because he had been more consistent I really thought he was the one to beat. Step forward Alena. She slowly came into her own and from around the final 10 mark, she really upped her game massively. Alena is a really worthy winner. |

Still think it would have been interesting to give it another year and tweak the format, though, to see if they could get it to work. |

Just caught up on the final and am so pleased Elena won.
Apart from a few teary moments she always looked calm and capable, but Matt often got a bit sweaty, rabbit-in-the-headlights looking. It was nice that Matt and Harry both got something too. I missed the update at the end of what they are doing now. Did I miss it or was it not shown? The perfect ending to a great season, roll on next year. |
