Just finished watching the final.
What a show and what a winner! I'd have been quite happy with either of them but Elena rushing to Matt's aid, just showed what a wonderful person she is. She's a really good cook too! |

Another great series. Well done to Elena she was brilliant throughout and helping matt with the egg was great to see. Love this show. Now to wait till next year and avoid this thread and any internet searches for aus masterchef like the plague until next years finishes.

Our recording cut off at the end, what did it say they were all doing? Where is harry working now? What is Elena doing? I hear matt has his food truck.

I was rooting for Matt all along, but it's impossible to begrudge Elena who came seemingly out of nowhere with some stunning food and a great attitude to go with it. |

I have only just caught up with the semi and the final (not sure why Virgin Media stopped updating the W feed - I had to go seeking torrents to see the last 2 shows... which did, of course, mean I got to see the full show not the edit)
I was delighted that Matt and Harry both came away with a prize fund. They deserve to have long careers in food. Wasn't surprised by Elena winning even though the boys created more dishes that tempted me. She clearly has a lot of talent - and hopefully now the confidence to go with it. This being my first season, I was rather surprised to see a pressure test as the final challenge. It really should have been about their own food. Not recreating something over-complicated. The final should be their calling card to the profession - look at what I can create. Not look at how well I can follow a list of instructions to recreate a ridiculously overcomplicated dish. But it is still better than our version. |

Ours did the same ,in fact it has been cutting off all season.
Once I added 5 minutes one side and 10 minutes the other, it was fine. |

We went ourt Saturday night for a meal in Central London and we had our own MCA experience with the dessert.
We had a chocolate ice cream (drink)in a chocolate sphere (drink) with tempered chocolate on the side (drink) with a hot white chocolate sauce (drink) poured over the tops of the sphere until it melted(double drink for 'theatre'!!!) was divine!! ![]() ![]() ![]() It had taken a while to make and we had visions of the chef bashing lumps out of the sphere mould because it wasn't coming out, the chocolate wasn't tempering , the ice cream was a runny goo )) but it came out looking very professional ![]() All the while George yelling '30 secooooonds!!!!' |

I don't really find any of the others are as good as MCA.The judges are much nicer and more nurturing and the food is of a high standard.

I know most of us have drifted away but just watching the final top 50 episode from S4 and Mindy said 'beautiful' four times and Emma cried three times. Filippo has already made bread five times...
Memories... |

Just announced: New series Hell's Kitchen Australia on the Seven network (MKR's network) in 2017, to be hosted by Marco Pierre White. I think it's a celebrity version, though the announcement is a little confusing. Anyway, I'm guessing it means that MPW will no longer appear on rival Ten's Masterchef Australia. I, for one, won't mind that.

Confirmed. MPW will not appear in next year's MCA, though Ten says they "look forward to working with him again in the future.”

And that's not something you'll see often. While I'm here, and off part of the topic, W are showing a random MC Canada Christmas special from two years ago on 18 December at stupid o'clock - 6.30 in the morning. With four contestants from the first season. I know who I'm hoping to see trotting in in her high heeled boots. |

They have been showing the first season of MCA on Discovery home &health. (Just came across it this evening). This episode is of the final 3. Julie, Po and Chris. Still can't believe Julie won over those two!
Gary looks so young! George was really podgy!!

They're going straight on to show season 2, I see, which for me was not only a vast improvement, apart from Matt Moran being around sapping everyone's confidence, but provided one of the most deserving winners and runners up.

S2 was the show's highest rating season, with a certain contestant probably its most popular ever (and remains my favourite too). Not before or since have so many Australian viewers been shocked and distraught at a TV show elimination. |

I thought Matt Moran wasn't a regular until a later series.
