Who is the scariest film villain to you?

Mine is Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Yul Brynner as The Gunslinger in Westworld. Even after all these years I still get the occasional nightmare about it.

By way of avoiding obvious choices and cliché’s…Tanzi, the thuggish moneylender from Ken Loach’ Raining Stones. The scene where he visit’s Bob’s wife and daughter looking for him.

This actually scared me when I saw this film at the cinema…possibly because of the realism aspect to it, and it was also largely based on threats, all verbal, no actual violence.

Mola Ram from indiana jones.
the actor that plays him is a well known scary villian in Bollywood.
Think Speiberg called him one of the best actors to ever play a villain.

Death from Final Destination.

No matter what you do, it will get you and possibly in a very violent and painful way.

Kane from Poltergeist 2.
" God is in His Holy Temp - LE! Earthly thoughts be silent now! "

My suggestion: The Horned King from The Black Cauldron

The Sentinels from the Matrix movies just because they were pure killing machines that couldn't be reasoned with.

The Gnome King from Return to Oz (in his true form) was quite scary.

Those vulture things from The Dark Crystal.

That really isn't a film for 2 or 3 year olds!

Angel Eyes in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Lee Van Cleef was a great villain, he looked positively satanic.

Freddie Krueger.
Maybe I was too old when I saw those movies but that character never scared me...and when they started introducing more and more humour and the films got sillier, plus kids being able to but plastic Freddy knife gloves etc...

Same for Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins incarnation). First movie was fine, but they just did too many movies and flogged it to death.

In both cases the characters became celebrities and media darlings...once tv shows start making skits about characters and you appear on The Simpsons etc...its the death knell for that particular villain.
